Disastrous results in the last two diamond league outings. That couldn't have helped her confidence. At 32, is she starting down the downward slope like Evan Jager?
An end of a steeplechase era.

emma is finished
For almost all athletes and in every sport, at age 32 your best days have come and gone.
The question is how close to the peak can she stay. It is one thing to lose a step. Right now it looks more like a couple dozen.
Didn’t her mother die recently?
I wouldn’t get carried away with writing her off just yet.
She’s also still quite fast, and lives and trains at altitude. Wonder if she’ll take up road racing, or longer track distances.
She’s been racing for a long time. And at 32 way past the peak age for performance which is ~ 28 based on published studies. Had a good “run”.
leave her alone yo
Great runner, does not show aggression in the races any longer, drops to the middle or back of the back, never in these races. It is ok she had a great career.
She just ran 4:05, which is just off her PB. So hard to say if it's just a couple of bad races or an overall decline. We will find out in a month or so. If she doesn't make the US team that would be the sign that it's over.
Don't know if it's coming to an end, but she looks out of it... no concentration, no dig, no grit any more, but it could be a fitness issue, but definitely does not look the same in the steeplechase... looks like Beatrice Chepkoech at this point of her career.
She lucked out selecting an event few people participate in in its infancy. Few countries rep in steeple. Africa and other Americans now running. She's a avg runner with a lot of privileges.
We love Emma
I agree she doesn't look the same, but I'm not sure it could be fitness. After all, she ran a second or so off her 1500 PB last weekend.
On the other hand, she is 32 1/2.
No matter what, she’ll go down as one of the hottest runners ever.
This post was removed.
She should move up to the marathon. Kipchoge set the WR at 37
NO, the season just started. I think she will compete in other events (more 1500m/5k). Athletes don't have to be "done" running because they're past their peak or not hitting weekly PRS.
The steeple is a younger person's event and the runners need to be fearless. Took a hard fall in Rabat and another stumble yesterday in the water pit. Still has a good chance to make US teams and still has capability of running sub 9:10 for the next couple of years but no longer a lock for those. Road running maybe, but just seems better at 3K - 1500. 5K on the track they have to be 14:40 or under these days.
Are you kidding, she looks like she just had a baby, or maybe that turns you on?
