Phoenix, too hot. Anyway, another silly troll thread. The Olympics are meant to be an international celebration.
Too hot for who? 5 million people live in the Phoenix metro area. This idea is really great actually. We will find out which athletes are really the toughest. Someone like Naive water could be a major sponsor.
You're right. We can go Phoenix - Vegas - Miami - New Orleans. Oh, I guess we need cities in other countries too. Cairo, Bangalore, Manila (letsrunners will love this one, its drug free), and of course, Doha are all in.
This is going to be part of the "Dumbest Thread Titles" contest. I know you aren't really that stupid, but if this thread were real, you'd be one of the dumbest people on Letsrun.
It's in the USA, so it ain't "safe".
Phoenix only has 3 highways. All are overrun with 5 million people in cars at all times of the day. The Olympics would be an absolute nightmare there.
You know, I actually like this post. It is so obviously, blatently absurd it had to have been posted with a sense of humor. Instead of people getting upset about it, they should take it in that same vein and maybe starting nominating the worst possible locations and telling us why it is a good idea. I nominate Guam. The sailing would be incredible. and the lack of facilities and hotels would give it a more natural, rustic flavor.
At least it's warm. It's May 31, I got up this morning and there was almost a frost, a near freezing wind and I had to wear four layers of clothes. This is meant to be summer :( :(.
When has has snow, ice and tornadoes happened during the Summer Olympics?
You literally can't live in Phoenix without owning a car. That's how poorly planned it is.
No public transportation (USA!) + need to drive everywhere = epic tourism fail
Might I suggest a Deadhorse, Alaska? Literally the middle of nowhere.
Yep, Doha is hotter.

Phoenix is for wussies. Lets make the Rio Grande Valley a permanent home for the Olympic Games. It would be the first cross-border North American Olympic Games with events taking place in both Laredo and Nuevo Laredo, Brownsville and Matamoros. Costs would be slashed thanks to extremely low cost venues (mostly High School/Junior college facilities and some minor league soccer/baseball, etc.). And we would find out who really are the best athletes in the world by making them compete in triple digit temps with dew points in the upper 80s. No dry heat unless winds come off the desert, which they rarely do in summer. The threat of hurricanes will also separate the men from the boys as well as the danger of cartel violence and kidnappings. No one is going to be dropping out in the marathon in Nuevo Laredo.
Yet the immigrants keep coming
I nominate Antartica. It would solve the problem with the heat and humidity that plague the Summer Olympics.
That one L.A.-obsessed poster would go home devastated, though.

Am guessing this is trolling but you fail to realise what the Olympics is all about. It’s a world event and part of that is giving different countries around the world the opportunity to host the event. I don’t think the other 200 odd countries would be too happy about always travelling to one US location to compete.
