On the 9th of June, Jakob will try to beat Komen 7:58 according to an article on FFA (french track and field federation) website, with the help of wavelight for the first time in Paris.
I am a supporter of Jakob but, this will not be an easy race for him. 7:58.61 Two Mile is 7:26.09 3000m pace. So not only will he have to PR by 1 second in the 3K (Which isn't impossible but) he'd also have to hold that pace for another 218m or so.
If I was a betting man I'd wager 90% chance that he doesn't pull it off. But anything can happen.
Remember even Haile Gebrselassie tried 3 times to go Sub-8 but couldn't he hit 8:01 each time. and his 3000m PB was 7:25.09 and Indoor of 7:26.15 both faster than Jakob's PB
He can definitely do it but it sure won’t be easy for him. He’s faster than Komen was over the 1500m and 2000m and I believe his current 5000m best of 12:46 is outdated. Komen’s 5000m PB is 12:39. Jakob has a huge engine similar to Komen where he can maintain a close to top end speed for much longer than most athletes. If he can get the pacing right and perfect conditions it could go down.

He can break this World Record. The 7:20 is a little stronger. The wavelight will help him and hopefully he gets at least a mild of good pacemaking.
This record is worth about 3 seconds slower the 3k conversion, which makes it easier but not easy. With Girma in the race as well, the chances would be better of getting it, because he'd draft off of Girma until 400 to go, and we know that Girma can run 7:23. But if you consider that Jakob has been able to handle Katir easily at 1500 through 5000, he is capable of 7:23, and hence, of 7:58. I predict he misses by a second this time and gets it next year.

Jakob ran 7:27 in the 3000m 2.5 years ago.
He "only" has to run the last around 218.7m in 30 seconds to take the WR.
Posts like these make me distrust everything you wrote in the past and will write in the future. Embarrassing.
He ‘only’ had one Outdoor PB last year, and it was a mile in 3:46.46, being an equivalent 2mile of 8:05. However, his 5000m PB of 12:48 is worth a 7:56 2mile, although he set that way back in 2021.
