Even Edward cheserek had to actually race and execute real race strategies to win all those titles. Trust me the plan isn't to just run away from everyone in both events it would be foolish to think she's that far ahead of the competition.
Let me see, almost every time she has raced this past year she either won a championship or set a collegiate record. Not much that much better than everyone else? WTF???
Anyone know what her training is like? She used to swim a lot in high school still doing that?
So do you guys think there's any strategy talk involved or is it just kind of assume she's going to take the lead in both races and try to control the tempo?
Tuohy can’t shake off 7 girls that can easily go 4:06-4:08 in the west. Plourde or Barnett not afraid to take risks. O’Sullivan managed fast early pace and kicked like a boss. Oregon girls can take a punch. This is deep waters for tuohy and the sharks are circling the waters.
I think a lot will depend on the start and if a couple of other runners really challenge for the lead... I don't really see good tactics on the women's side... I wonder if the coaches emphasize tactical running... Neither tuohy or valby ever seem to draft only difference is tuohy wins
lol let me debunk your argument with almost no research.
First 5k title: Valby impressively pushed the pace for Tuohy
XC title: Valby absolutely pushed the pace here and led again
Indoor 5k: Sat on Alabama to win
Indoor 3k: took the lead with 800 to go?
mile record: rightfully sat behind pros
5k record: understandably gapped by pros
My point definitely stands. She most likely would not win front running majority of the race. I would love to see it but there isn't any evidence that she is that dominant yet. Doesn't mean she isn't the favorite to win both races but she most likely loses if she tries to lead the whole race.

Most of the time she does not try to lead wire to wire in a championship. However, Tuohy ran her outdoor 1500m pb at ACC championships in 2022 entirely from the front. So, it is certainly possible she could try it. A smarter strategy would probably be to sit on Barnett for a lap and then go.

This is very misleading... First of all indoor she didn't really draft off anyone but ran on the outside of the leader and one of the Alabama runners was able to draft off her for most of the race...
But basically indoors she knew she could win and she just wanted to stay out of trouble and so ran on the outside and then easily out kicked the other runners
The valby front running was really kind of meaningless because she didn't front run much in the outdoor 5K, 3 laps maybe, and in cross-country so what it wasn't like KT drafted off her...
And yeah obviously she's not faster than the best pros yet so she ran with pros to set the record and was out kicked by them but it's kind of irrelevant...
