Clearly she is not top tier anymore and wishes to remodel herself. That won't happen at the back of the train.
She needs to take some chances to really improve her opportunities. Yes its early, but she seems to be plodding towards her old peak, which is not good enough in 2023. Early season is the time to take chances.

Think she’ll start hitting the road circuit?
It seems She has yet to make a decision about what she wants to do on the track.
With her great career that she has had, its tough to move Off Broadway
Really impressive consistency throughout her career. Her PB is only 2 sec faster.
Never tried to be in it the entire race.

4:05 for Coburn is a good sign. Just last year, she was running workouts that she'd never been able to do before. That didn't mean she'd pr, because she may have been overtrained but if she is ready this year for workouts like that, but holds back a bit and leaves that ability in the tank until World's, I'll bet she'll get that breakthrough at the steeple (sub-9) that she must have been capable of when she was medalling.

This is very cringy dude
She either wants to get better, and case this is more of the same.
She has felt for years like she's in sub 9 shape but it hasn't come together when she gets into races. So I think it makes sense for her to think that, if she can once again run a 4:05 1500 in late spring, she's in good shape for the summer; she just needs the cards to fall her way in the race, and that could totally happen.
I do think she should be trying some 5ks because it seems like her endurance is what has been lacking? She runs a lot of miles for someone who never races longer than 1500 flat/3ksc. She's run, what, one or two flat 3ks even?
Also, low 9's haven't been coming as easy for her in the steeple in recent years, so I do worry her window for sub 9 is passing. But she's very easy and fun to root for, so I am still doing that!

This may be obvious but from what I can tell, the steeple for women seems to have a lot of ups and downs from month to month year to year. Coburn wins worlds, cools off a bit, Frerichs looked like she was going to set the world on fire, then came back to earth, the WR holder is all over the place.
Who knows, with good doping controls I wouldnt be surprised by EC, CF, CWayment, or CG for gods sake winning races this year. Or not. Lets not forget TrackJenny has 36th all time world mark in the SC! So lets just throw her in there!! (I would actually love to see that).
It was a good outing for Emma Coburn. She got a rust buster mark on the board and will know how to train better from June to August because of it.
Rust buster?! She was in Doha and got her doors blown off. She can continue to win the weak US steeple title but she is done at the international level. More so, no American, male or female, will ever medal at WC or Olympics. The quality coming through the NCAA is disappointing.
