He did what I was suspecting, showing up after a long training cycle and doing what he has long not done, getting strong into the collegiate outdoor campaign. I admit I'm jumping the gun a bit, but it's awesome to see this result!
Hes not beatting that Nigerian kid at Stanford in any sprint. Thinking 19.88ish a legit possibility. And if not this season sometime before he leaves Stanford.
Stanford not known for sprinting, but did have Clyde Jeffreys way back a 9.4 world record holder. Larry Questad 1968 Olympic 200m, and anchored a 39.7 440 relay at Stanford.

By the time Georgia gets to NCAAs they are gonna have Matt probably go top 5 in the 200, Godwin top 6ish in the 400 (cope but it's true), Garland win dec, maybe Sumner in the 800, and that 4x400.
0 chance they get anywhere close to that team title
I’m continually impressed by your knowledge of sprint history, Deno. Serious question: have you considered writing a book on it? It seems like you could write a book full of stories, fun facts, and interesting athlete profiles. I’d be interested in reading such a book.
Georgia doesnt have enough firepower to win it. Florida will hurt their chances starting in the 400 and 4 x 4. Arkansas is too deep across the board. Look at the field events closer.
Have this thing about origins and the obscure. Hobby would work, all those old blues cats who left us just a record or a couple, love that. Gotta know how everything started, wouldn't mind sharing what took me decades to accumulate,
Pretty sure he just does sprints, relays and long jumps. He is not a thrower to the best of my knowledge, but if he works on it, then maybe he should consider switching to the decathlon - that or moving up to the marathon. You've got to imagine he'd close the final 400 in sub 60 seconds!
However, it is far from likely. In fact, imo he won’t win this meet either.
At least he’s not wasting everyone’s time in the 100 now.
Meantime, he could be winning the LJ.
I mean he literally won the NCAA title just a couple months ago. That's after having just a decent indoor campaign where he didn't really show up until then. Say you're writing him off without writing him off.

They have the NCAA defending javelin champion, a guy that ran 49 flat in the 400H and points in the hammer. Watch them win like they did in 2018. Matt is winning the 200, Elija winning the 400, Kyle winning the decathlon, 4x4 winning, win the javelin and 3-4 places in hammer, 800 and 400mH. That’s 60 points.

The Canadian Olympian Charlie Francis was at Stanford as well.
Say you're writing him off without writing him off.
This is a grammatical construction that I have never found worthwhile, let alone pithy or elegant.
Even indoors, I thought that Orogot looked better. It was timed sections.
Remember, it was I who suggested that he wasn’t feeling well, or was injured, a few weeks ago. You don’t go from 20.1x indoors to oblivion outdoors without a good reason.
We’ll see. I’m not rooting against him, but neither am I rooting for him. All I want is a good race. Of course it would be great if he crushed a huge time, but it would be great if anybody crushed a huge time.
I am glad, for him, that he’s not in the 100. The way he runs, he spends a ton of energy. This will leave more in the tank for a good 200, and then 4x1.

Who are the 5 athletes beating the NCAA indoor champion Godwin? I see two at best in Ryan Willie and my dark Horse William Jones. I believe Godwin can break 44 at NCAAs, Willie is the only other athlete doing it.
Boling is tricky to predict but you can't deny he stepped up at Indoor NCAAs. I don't believe he's the most talented 200m runner in the NCAA rn, I think the 200m title is up for grabs and we could have the deepest field ever with almost everyone in the finals running sub 20.(Boling, Orogot, Gregory, Jones, Lindsey, Onwuzurike, Harding, Miller, Patterson, Maswanganyi)
