With the D1 East Regional being held in Jacksonville Florida I am hearing that some athletes are not happy about not changing the venue and that they plan to turn this event into an opportunity to show their feelings and expose Florida as a State of racists.
I am anxious to see how this plays out. Hey letsrun can you check with NCAA to see if they have any statement BEFORE the meet begins? This would be a bigger story if you can get some statements BEFORE any protests begin.
Also how will this change how USATF deals with the marathon Olympic trials scheduled for Orlando?

you can’t just change the venue last minute. you literally have hundreds of flights, thousands of hotel rooms, timing, officials etc. this is a massive event.

I also get the sentiment if, indeed, this is real. Somehow I doubt that the protest will come to fruition, though. Logistically it is too difficult to move the meet and I doubt that athletes will want to give up the chance to qualify to the championship in the name of a protest.
I have a place on Santa Rosa Island in the upper panhandle. It's a vacation property that has is paid and we only use it about 4-6 weeks out of the year. It is a rental when not used by family or friends and is a great source of income for us. DeSantis is a clown and Florida is a cesspool politically but I am not willing to sell my property in the name of a protest. The athletes, upon further reflection, will feel the same.

The bigotry is in the OP. Many schools competing are from Florida; many athletes competing are from Florida high schools; a State cannot be racist; you are generalizing and stereotyping. Desantis doesn't speak for Cuban-Americans or any other demographic in Florida.
The head of the NAACP has a home in Florida, and Florida's black test scores are higher in both math and reading than Maryland. I'm not sure how it compares if you remove Baltimore and only look at normal (i.e. middle class and up) blacks though.

Fake news! They issued a travel advisory. They do not have the authority to enact a ban.
Not a travel ban, a travel advisory that's politically motivated from an organization pushing a CRT agenda. They're just mad DeSanctimonious isn't letting them teach queer theory and CRT as part of AP African American Studies. In reality Florida is one of the nicest states in the country for all people, including black Americans. I imagine this has to anger black people from Florida who have never experienced real racism.

True but- Florida (and Texas and now Kentucky and Tennessee) have been unworthy of hosting this meet for over a year.
Certainly the antics in Florida have earned them losing any NCAA events and the decline has been for a long time.
Any state with open carry firearm laws should not host major events because they're putting college kids in immediate danger.
You can't have alcohol at an NCAA event but can you have your AR-15?

Clearly you've never been to Chicago- there is literally one area (the South Side) that is dangerous. The universities that would host this event are in a safe part of the city.
I've been there often and I feel very safe.
I was recently in Savannah, Georgia and knowing that anyone could legally have any gun they want and no one could do anything about it until they open fire made me feel unsafe in public places.
