Now hear me out please, no hate intended.
Low-key, the Streakfly was a bust when it came to racing and such because there was no pop or push with the measly plastic shank in its midfoot. I've seen so many reviews about these shoes, even from reputable athletes, and they say the same thing on how its fun to use on tempos and good for 1k's on the track & strides but I never see these on the feet of professional athletes in races. I'm not saying that the Streakfly is a bad shoe, it's just that it doesn't compare good enough against the Vaporfly for those 5k/10k races (in the way they marketed it) and honestly I think it's because of the lack of a carbon plate for that extra support mid-race.
I personally think that Nike has been in a weird spot in their variety of road racers because they released the Vaporfly first as a marathon shoe but the public has seen how the shoe excels in a variety of road distances from the 5k-marathon so it's always dominated in them. Then they released the Alphafly for the Breaking2 event to showcase the revolutionary shoe made for marathons and ultramarathons. So it seemed like they were given another opportunity to make a super shoe for those 1 mile-10k distances and came with the streakfly but it doesn't compare to the Vaporfly and its variety. Look at Adidas: They first made the big super shoe to compete against Nike in the 1/2 to full marathons then they release the new Takumi Sen 8/9 which excelled so far in the 5k-15k. And they still have the Adios 7/8 as a "true racing flat" for those people who want to race without a plate and for those tempo/track workouts.
I personally think that Nike and its reviewers have said that the Streakfly is like the old school racers and feels like a true racing flat just to brush off that it doesn't have a plate. If that's the case then it should be named a different shoe and hold the name "Streakfly" to honor a plated, low-stack shoe that will beat the Vaporfly/Alphafly in the short distance races and compete with other companies. Don't get me wrong, the Streakfly is a soft and bouncy shoe but I think it's more of that tempo/workout shoe. This could've been the opportunity to name it the Turbo 3 or the Turbofly or something to continue that Pegasus Turbo line and discontinue the Tempo Next% (which was Kind of a bust too) and give the name "Streakfly" to more competitive 5k/10k super shoe to honor the Streak lt series.
