Organizers just announced today that Jacobs and Kerley will race each other for the first time since going 1-2 at the Olympics in 2021. They've beefed on social media and now it's time to take that smoke to the track.
I'm just hoping they both stay healthy. They were supposed to race each other three times in the regular season and again at Worlds last year and Jacobs wound up pulling out of all of them, first because of food poisoning and then injury.
The Olympic champion, the World gold medallist and the Diamond League champion will compete in Florence on June 2 (ph. Grana/FIDAL | Skarzynski - Nassour/Diamond League)
Bromell always shows up, my favourite sprinter. I hope he takes gold in Budapest, leaves those other guys barking at each other
I'd temper my expectations with Bromell, he doesn't always travel well. Other than his PB at altitude in Nairobi, he hasn't run under 9.9 outside of the US. I'd give it to Kerley with it being a competitive race hopefully.
Why all the negativity with sprinters/sprinting? They won't show up, they are all on drugs, negative negative negative. We get plenty of sprint action every season so what is the problem? Why all this bah humbug?

Seriously - let's play odds here. What chance do we legitimately think there is that this happens? And it's more than fair to be on the cynical side of the fence here given that we just came off a decade of the fastest and most decorated men in sprinting history (Bolt, Blake, Gay, Gatlin, Powell) who seemingly always found ways to dodge each other in Europe in a plethora of ways - "injuries", bizarre A and B race scenarios, event shifting (one guy runs the non DL event vs a bunch of journeymen for absolutely no truly good reason) etc etc etc.
Based on my experience watching and listening to 100/200 guys who "challenge" each other - I am going to give this a 35% chance of happening.

Deno, I have to tell you - this might be the easiest question to answer you have ever put out there.
"They are all on drugs"? Go look at the world all time top 20 and tell us who wasn't either caught for doping or implicated with doping. Hilariously it might actually be only one guy and he's the WR holder.
"They won't show up"? I just posted about this and how we just came off really two decades of fastest men in history (let's forget about doping for a second) and I feel like I can count on one hand the number of matchups between Powell and Gatlin, Bolt and Blake, Bolt and Gay, Powell and Gay - any permutation you want to give and if it happened once a season outside of the major events when they were basically forced into it, it was a miracle.

That's why.
I don't recall Bolt ever racing Blake outside of a global championship or their national championships. Definitely not on the circuit.
