Sorry if you enter college as a 23-year-old who has already run professionally, and finish as a 27-year-old you are not the greatest college runner ever... You can't compare that to US runners who enter as 18-year-old freshman. He was a great runner but any top 10 professional can enter college as a 23-year-old and dominate... it means nothing other than he was a very good professional!

Butt sore it appears you are. Take Aloe Vera you should. 4 world records in 81 days while in college he did. While hungover NCAA championship he won.
Yes seriously, it's not easy for an old time or to compete against young kids. Guy was almost a master level runner! It's an amazing accomplishment

There was no such thing as professionally. His best steeplechase before he came to WSU was 8:29, about the same time as mine. He got his first pair of shoes at 19. This is what you call dirt poor poverty.
Galen Rupp was a professional runner in high school.
He had been training with elite level runners in Kenya before he came to the US, call it whatever you want but he was an elite level runner, it's ridiculous to consider him as a regular college student... 27-year-old seniors don't count for greatest ever

Rono was in the Army before he came here. He wasn't training with Kenyan elite because Kenyan elite were all in America.

Suleiman Nyambui from Tanzania was another one who enjoyed NCAA success in his late 20's. He was extremely popular at UTEP.
Was he enrolled in college classes? Yes
Did he run for his college team in NCAA races? Yes
That made him a college runner. The status as best college runner doesn’t require someone to be a certain age. It just requires that someone was in college.

byu freshmen don't even start their 16 years of eligibility until they are 23
