Debut marathon for Simbassa? That's a good sign, considering his 1:00:37 HM, that he can slice some time off. Not sure about Kibet, as he's already 39 yo, but a great time for him.
We don't need a post about super shoes every single time someone runs a great time/race. They're here to stay. Why keep arguing about it?
Because the thread is about time, and there are so many other threads with people celebrating times and records. Perhaps if we focus more on wins, podiums and place, then we don’t need to argue about times.
However the underrated performance of the weekend is Wesley Kiptoo running 61:21 at the Pittsburgh Half. Not a crazy fast time but on a hilly course in not-ideal conditions it's a good result and show he's likely in 60:30 shape in a fast race.
Elkana MF kibet just run 2;10 in the middle of deployment. Dude left for deployment at the end of September last year. He still have 4 more months of deployment. Dude is training during PT hours once a week and run that.
Just like what he did in Chicago few weeks after getting back from Afghanistan
"2:10 is good" you write? Tell us, how fast have you run a marathon? Can you run 3 miles at 2:10 marathon pace? Gotta love letsrun.com SMH
2:10 would be just as competitive for a WMM podium as a 4:10. It's not the benchmark it was in 2012. A former D3 guy who has never been on a marathon podium ran under 2:10 three years ago. They certainly should be considered in the mix to make the team for Paris, though that's not such a high bar these days. Where would 2:10:00 fall on just this year's performance list for Japanese men?
