He seems like a man without a clear event right now. He's solid at 1500m but it doesn't seem to suit him, it feels like he should be a 5000m star. His 13:06 PR doesn't look good versus Fisher, Klecker, Kincaid, or even Nuguse. But I think he's gonna break through. Waiting for him to pop a low 12:50 somewhere and was a bit disappointed to see him only at 13:20 pace today until the kick. Should be an interesting season. The competition in the 5000m will force him to step up his game if this is the event he's going to focus on.

“Low 12:50”…? Cmon, man.
Yeah, I get it, but is he going to make a US team at 5000m if he can't run sub 12:55 here pretty soon? I'm not so sure.

How is he the reigning US Champion at 1500m if the event doesn’t suit him? Just curious.

I'm talking ultimate potential. I just get the sense that the 1500m won't ultimately be his best event. Galen Rupp's 1500m PR is better than Teare's just for perspective.

Teare is the reigning national champ at 1500m and has closed a 3:50 mile in 1:52.5, just for perspective.
I'm sure he has a 12:5x in his future but he's still a miler (like McSweyn). I think he can get down to 3:29/3:30 and be a contender on the world stage.
Teare is going to focus on the 1500 meters I think. If so a 13:12 victory proves he has excellent endurance and can compete. If he drops down and runs a 1:45/46 then he would have both ends covered and he would have a chance ata 1500 m medal.
bear in mind he's still in his rookie year of Jerry's massive volume regime. If he had stinkers all season, many would put it down as 'he's still adapting'. I think this is a good sign, putting out solid performances in full training. The sub13 will come no problem. Roll on 2024
Toys with the 5000 field tonight and just turns on the jets on last lap to win in 13:12. He's going to be a force this year in the WCs.
This ain’t the 1980s. If it were, he might be a medal contender. But this is a whole different deal brother.
If the real medal contenders were in a race going 13:15 pace with a lap to go they'd close in 50-52 seconds over the last lap. I don't know what Teare closed in last night but I bet it was more like 55 seconds.

Think it was 54.8. Yes Woody would’ve blown his doors off if he was in this sort of race - let alone the worlds best guys. That being said Teare has been running well and mostly winning in his first year under Jerry. I’d think he should choose the 1500 as his event, though.
