Jenny Simpson ran 15:01 for the record.
Bad video coverage on tracklandia
I personally was thinking 14:40.0 Hehe…. I was off just a bit.
Here ya go (official records site for the NCAA)
Tuohy now has a 17 second cushion on her nearest competitors in the NCAA during the 2023 season.
Lol Jenny Simson doesnt have the record. Lisa Koll ran 14:55 and Jessica Hull ran 15:00 then Jenny's 15:05 😂😂💀
all times are out of season times
whats crazy is that im pretty sure shes frustrated with 15;03
Oh she’s pissed, intrinsically, no doubt.
BUT, I think she’s super happy too. Two goals were accomplished for her tonight that she wanted to do:
1) Got the 15:09 auto-qualifier for USATF Nationals
2) Broke the NCAA record (now NCAA record #4 that she owns).
It was a good night. (She seemed really happy at the finish w/ all the pros).
Yo KT, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Josette Andrews had one of the best 5k performances of all time. One of the 5k performances of all time!
That definitely was an amazing run by Andrews!
Yep. A very good night for her. 15:10 for example is a very significant barrier for a college runner the same way 4:10 is in the 1500. It is important psychologically to establish that you can break it.
No, not amazing. Can we be honest? Most people would say that a failure to break 15 is a failure tonight. Touhy is held to a higher standard.
I’ll be re-watching the race. When it was live I was too concerned about splits, positioning, etc. instead of just WATCHING the race.
Incredibly excited for Tuohy.
Breaking all of these NCAA records really is HUGE.
It was ok maybe B grade. "A" grade would be breaking 15, A+ would be under 14:50
Say’s the old and washed up!
68% of LRC predicted she'd go sub 15 in the poll.
You Tuohy superfans are the ones creating the unreasonable expectations (e.g. 14:40). Then when she runs 15:03 it seems like she had a bad race.
You can't be mad when some people think 15:03 is meh after you hyped the 14:40s.
My personal feelings are slightly surprised she didn't break 15 but how can anyone say something bad about an outdoor collegiate record?
Not sure I understand why she is singled out and held to a higher standard? She isn’t even finished with her Junior year of eligibility outdoor but is already well ahead of where many current pros were at that time in their college careers. This was her 3rd NCAA record. It’s not a failure ffs! Also her last name is spelled T-U-O-H-Y. Thank you.
