If there is a war between China and the USA it will be a short, swift and a very deadly war. Both sides will lose many people and material in a short amount of time. By the time the House and Senate get past discussing it and then perhaps voting on a law requiring a draft the war will be over. Your fears of being drafted are unfounded.
I disagree. China is not like North Korea or Iran. China doesn't have a suicide mentality like Iran and North Korea do. When both sides get a bloody nose and a broken jaw the war will end. Both countries are too big to fail, and they both know it. They actually need each other to survive. Strange as that may sound but it's true.

I mean that is a factor but China has a big ego. They’re angry about Taiwan and Hong Kong. Their current leader thinks he’s invincible.
There won't be any storming of beaches or bloody ground battles or even air to air fighting. We'll just turn 'off' everything in China and they will do the same to us. No more electricity, water, food or even - gasp - GPS for our running watches!

The US defense budget and capabilities is double China and Russia combined.
Budget? Yes.
Capabilities? Not even close.

Our enlisted army is basically made up of people who didn't feel like delivering pizzas, flipping burgers, or driving an Uber any longer. Overweight, lazy, uneducated, unmotivated, and soft. Just think of the people in your high school class that enlisted in the Army. Were they the members of the National Honor Society or the guys sitting outside the principal's office waiting for their next detention? The ones who were on the athletic field representing their school or the ones standing on the corner smoking a cigarette because they are just "so cool?" Way too many of them are looking for a quick payout from Uncle Sam for "disabilities" they received after two years of service sitting in the motor pool looking at their phones.
Money and technology can only get us so far. Men with the willingness to endure hardships and do bad things to people are needed. The US just doesn't have enough of them anymore. Look at the technological advantage we had in Iraq and Afghanistan. We just steamrolled right over them, didn't we? Twenty years in Afghanistan and we still got chased out with our tails between our legs like Vietnam.
I served my time, patrolled the $hitholes of Iraq in an infantry company, and know as well as anyone here what our capabilities are. We might fight to a stalemate with Russia. China? I don't even want to think about it. Our best play is to avoid a war with either of them at all costs.

Most of the military guys from my highschool were neither of the types you described.
JROTC kid is its own completely different personality type. Some kind of weird superiority complex there. Like constantly trying to flex athletic and academic strength that isn’t there. (Think always blurting out the answers in class and being wrong, always being in first place through the first lap of the PE mile test but walking by lap 3, being the obnoxious teachers pet/parrot that the teacher doesn’t want)
What people do not realize it that today's military is highly trained and highly specialized. There is a lot of training done before a person is sent into harm's way. In WW2 we could have a draft because it was not very technical.
No chance of a draft. US military is firmly of the belief that a professional, volunteer military is the most efficient and lethal.

One of the ways that the Soviet Union was defeated was the CIA posing as black market sellers of US high technology. The Soviets bought tech with defects purposely built in. As a result, we were able to cripple key pieces of infrastructure that basically crippled the Soviet economy. This was in the 1980s.
Think about all of the things in your home, office, vehicle, pockets, etc. built in China. Think about all of the things that are connected to the Internet. What makes you think our adversaries didn't learn and now have the same plans in store for us?

Let’s not be dumb, China is trying to reclaim land and cement regional supremacy. They are going to fully supply Russia’s military with bombs/drones etc and when Russia is in sufficient turmoil they are going to take control of larges swaths of eastern Russia they feel they have a right to. Easier than trying to get Taiwan and there are a ton more natural resources than Taiwan. It’ll be easy to paint Russia as the enemy and get the West to let it happen. If Russia tries to mount any sort of resistance m, China will remotely incapacitate any Chinese weapons Russia is using through back door controls they’ve established.
I am no longer draft age, but given how some 80+% of draft age men are ineligible for service based on their health, I'm sure they'd go as high in age as they needed to go to get the bodies they need if it really came down to it.
For all of you fatties who gobbled your way through two years of intermittent shutdowns we had to endure on account of your collective bad health decisions (which we now know didn't really do anything but make all of you feel safer), I will not be subjecting myself to the horrors of war so you all can keep shoveling food into your mouths while watching Netflix. I'd leave the US if need be.
China has no blue water navy and its completely reliant on global shipping for the bulk of it's food and energy.
The US could kill 500 million Chinese through starvation alone by parking 1 carrier group in the Indian ocean to interdict anything carrying anything to China.
China's military is WORSE than Russia's. They are watching what's unfolding in Ukraine and they have learned that war with Taiwan let alone the US would be national suicide.
