i think it’s a little stupid knightons times don’t count for the books because he was pro, but these will - asinga ran under a club team after choosing not to finish his official high school eligibility.
either way, congrats to him. big things in this young man’s future.
James Dadzie 👉🏿19.79s!!!⚡️🔥 Personal Best ✅ 🇬🇭 National Record ✅ World Lead ✅
James Dadzie dazzles in the men's 200m with a blistering 19.79s (1.3) at the Corky/Crofoot Shootout in Lubbock ahead of Courtney Lindsey 🇺🇲 in a big PB of 19.94s and U-20 Issam Asinga in 19.97s! pic.twitter.com/OfET6zLHuc
Ghanian athletes have been silently building themselves up on the world stage. Only reason they haven't gotten the same level of recognition like Jamaica is because they don't have a bolt or blake level talent yet. Once they do - goodness, watch out.
Im predicting a medal from Ghana in the 4x100 this year at worlds.
He is incredibly good. Montverde is a sports factory and he is already running for a club team, so I look at this as nearly a 1/2 second behind the national record for a high schooler, Knighton's 19.49.

yes, even tho this will be the official HSR i feel the same way. literally the only difference between knighton and asinga when they ran 19.49 and 19.97 is that knighton was signed as pro. they are/were both in high school, taking high school classes, training as professionals, competing against professionals, and have professional competition schedules.
Lubbock. Well, at least it’s better than Clermont. Maybe.
Top 3 guys all massive PB’s…in April. And a 19.79 from a nobody.
Excuse my ongoing skepticism.
We will see, in time…but not quite yet, IMO
The kid eviscerated Noah Lyles head to head last week
For how intelligent you are, you say some of the dumbest sht on here sometimes
Save my post? lol why, to “use it against me later”?😂
All I said was that I was still skeptical, and I am. I have seen too many screaming early-season southern US times that haven’t been equalled, to take them at face value.
I already acknowledged that be beat a decent Lyles in the 100, and that that was the important takeaway.
For sure he will get some invitations based on these results, and for that purpose they are great.
You know, skepticism is easily overcome, and I will feel absolutely no chagrin, shame, or anything other than pleasant satisfaction if and when it happens. I would LOVE to see this guy to do well, and seeing Lyles get spanked was worth the price of admission. The opportunity cost of not immediately hopping on the bandwagon, however, is zero.
