Incredible. May have used too much energy for a prelim. Final is tomorrow afternoon.

Whatever happened to Obea Moore?
That is bonkers! Love it!
He is insanely good for his age and looks to rewrite the record books by class one by one.
I've watched this race 5 times, and I'm astonished every time. If you haven't watched the video, please do, as this is the most impressive run I've seen in the last month, and this last month has been hot. And I'm a distance guy.
Calabar is legendary at Penn, guy runs a 48 and gets demolished by (what looks like) a twelve year old.
Q is the real deal.
Even if he is doping that is impressive.
What’s the fastest 400m split in HS history? The official record from blocks is like 45.19 I think, although a guy from the 80s ran 44 mid in a pro meet. Already one of the fastest highschoolers ever
He does look a lot like Ben Johnson in 1988, all bulging muscles and freaky eyeballs.
On the other hand, Bullis may need to have their other legs step up, as they weren't the only 3:14 relay today. Saturday at Penn is as close to heaven as exists.
Agree.
The only negative comment I have is I worry about how he carries the baton. We saw two batons knocked out of hands during the SEC and ACC Indoor Championships, both costing the team the race (and in Duke's case, the meet). He seems to swing his arm wide and this can be inviting trouble in a close race.
45.27 is age 15 record.
He'll be close, maybe.
Justin Robinson split 43.8 a few years back in 2019, I think he was a HS Jr. then.
Too young to get excited. Tons of high schoolers use substances, and then suck in college. Super impressive either way tho.
He has a very large, sweeping stride and it's funny to see how small he is compared to competitors. Like a boy among men... who happens to dominate all the men lol
I know this is premature and ridiculous of me to say, but I'm gonna call it right now. Quincy breaks the world record in 5 years.
So sad to see someone this young, so fast. You almost want to tell his coaches/parents….stop now.
Super Shoes!!!!!!! Only reason people run fast these days!
The Penn Relays record from 1985, Hawthorne (CA) shows Henry Thomas splitting 44.5.
Wilson is very impressive, passed that Jamaican like it was nothing.
Lets see what happens tomorrow although the weather will probably be awful. Today was near perfect.
Issam Asinga 100m is by far the most impressive result this month. 45 split is worth a 46 flat and while that's amazing, its not on the level of breaking the HS 100m record.
Fast forward to 11:40
The famous Hawthorne with Henry Thomas vs Dallas Roosevelt with Roy "Robot" Martin clash.
In a word legendary
Speaking of legendary there was a come from way back 4x4 anchor by a cat named Don Webster at Penn. Apparently he made up something like 40 yards.
Borrowed this....
At the 1960 Penn Relays for instance, the Kennett High School track legend recorded the fastest quarter mile ever by a junior in high school, 46.7 seconds, as he anchored the Blue Demons’ relay team to a first place finish at the historic event at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
“I was there that day, and when he got the baton the leading team was already half-way around the track. Donnie caught them at the end. It was spectacular. The place went wild. The crowd was cheering so loud for him that I’ll never forget it,” said Mac Rayne, a 1959 Kennett grad who ran track with Webster. “He had such long beautiful strides. I’ve never seen a stride like that before. He just kind of floated, to the point where he made it look effortless.”
Webster, who passed away on Oct. 5 at the age of 62 in Orangeburg, S.C., after an extended illness, is remembered by many as the greatest track athlete to ever come out of Kennett High School.
Obea Moore
Moore aspired to go to nearby powerhouse University of Southern California, but his SAT and then ACT scores left him .1 point away from eligibility. In order to improve his academic standing Moore went first to Pasadena City College, then Long Beach City College. Further attempts took him across the continent to Morehouse College. Moore spent his time in injury rehabilitation. His heart and aspirations were still in Southern California. He left Morehouse a year later. The following year, Moore ended up at Life University, an NAIA college. After a successful and healthy fall training season, he entered the Pomona Pitzer Invitational, a tune up meet before the Mt. SAC Relays. Facing serious competition from people with marks equivalent to Moore's high school junior accomplishments, Moore pulled out of the race at the last minute.
"He couldn't go to the line," recalls then Life University head coach Mark Spino. "If he just was even around, people had such high expectations of him, it was hard for him to start anyplace and very hard for him to have intermediary goals."[1]
Remembe the movie "White Tiger" a white QB at Grambling played by Bruce Jenner. That was Jim Gregory who was out of Corcoran HS about 60ish miles from here. Way back when that HS out in the sticks had a kid named Jerry White, Google him.
