What a London Marathon! Sifan Hassan battled back from the dead to get an unbelievable win. Does this make her the female GOAT? Kelvin Kiptum put up a performance that would make Eliud Kipchoge blush, with a 59:45 2nd half. C...
Sifan Hassan did the unthinkable, win the London Marathon on limited training, right after Ramadan versus a loaded filed, while having to stop in the race.Do...
So that's Letesenbet Gidey with 2:16:49 debut. It's a pity she lost XC Worlds.
Dibaba but Genzebe ;p But a lot of WRs, not many medals...
Faith is the 1500 GOAT.
Sifan is the queen of kick and versatility.
Any questions boys?
I was AMAZED by her run. Stops to stretch, gets dropped, but just keeps on going. What I love about her is she loves to challenge herself. When is the last time someone came from 30+ seconds back to win a major?
But the splits at the end of this one were shockingly slow. (which Makes Kiptum's run all the more bonkers). Everyone was slowing down (save Kiptum).
Jonthan Gault has mile by mile splits. Mile 25 was 5:39. Mile 26 was 5:56. From there to the finish was 62 seconds which is 70.4 400 pace.

Coincidentally, London Marathon in 2018 Vivian Cheruiyot winning 2.18.31 in almost the same time as Hassan, while the leaders chased the WO WR
Hassan clearly has the best range, but she has a ways to go to match Tirunesh Dibaba’s accomplishments.
Olympic + World Championships: Dibaba 8, Hassan 4
Total Olympic + World Championship medals: Dibaba 12, Hassan 7
World Cross Country Championships: Dibaba 4, Hassan 0
Hassan has surpassed Dibaba in number of world records (4-3) and has a better set of PBs, but she needs more championship wins and medals in my opinion to match Dibaba overall.
Dibaba also deserves more credit for her remarkable longevity. Dibaba medaled on the track at *four* different Olympics, and her world championship medals span from 2003 until 2017. We will see if Hassan can remain great for as long as Dibaba was.
It was all over when she bridged and gap caught back up with the leader after dropping off. The era of women track superstars running the marathon has begun and it’s going to be epic
Wow, this is amazing. Her performance range is too good to be true!
So it probably is too good to be true. 2 the gills!
If Matt centrowitz won the 15, then the 10k (closing his last 15 faster than the open 15), then next year ran a 2:06 marathon debut... Letsrun would explode. I'm not buying it.
The range she has displayed over her career is unquestionably the best we’ve ever seen. She also has the greatest Olympic distance performance on the track with 5000m and 10000m gold and 1500m bronze from one Olympics. Consistency is the biggest weakness in my mind. She didn’t medal in 2016 Olympics or 2022 worlds. There is not much of an XC resume to look at as far as I’m aware. She’s only 30 years old so a good amount of the story remains to be seen.
2019 worlds winning the 10K with a 3:59 final 15, to come back in the 15 and win that too in 3:51 (!!!!) the range! And she led the whole time.
2021 Olympics
The TREBLE 2 golds, and 1 bronze. Let's not forget that she tripped and fell in the 1500 rounds and got up and came back to WIN THE HEAT! she even beat a bunch of good athletes in that round and that was after the 10K and the 5K in her legs.
Now, she's running the marathon and she made an insane comeback run!

Wow, what a sad existence to witness two of the great performances in marathon history, and rather than enjoy them, you instead wallow in cynicism. I genuinely feel sad for you that your first and only thought in the afterglow of this amazing London race is that Hassan is doping.
