Where was the race? If not at altitude, this is a 10.95 basic, which would be great—it’s fast, but not too fast for this time in the season (a season that hasn’t really even started).
It is an excellent starting-point, now she needs to progress slowly and smoothly, to peak when it counts and not blow her wad too early.
I am most impressed with Tamari Davis' run. I firmly believe she will be the one to dominate globally if she remains healthy.
Agree
I’m not sure about Abby Steiner at this point in the season. She won the Michael Johnson Invitational yesterday but in a middling (for her) 22.30.
Meh. No need to panic. This could go either way. If a WC medal is ultimately the goal (and I imagine this is what she is training for), then this is a pre-season result.

Yeah, fair point. I really am not doubting her, I just think it’s hard to get a handle on where she is right now. To be fair, at this point last year she had a lot more races under her belt, probably too many, and was peaked at various times throughout the year. Honestly, she probably peaked too many times last year.
I expect Steiner to be better this season but I also expect the competition to also be better.

You honestly believe that Davis is going to dominate the Jamaicans? Shericka Jackson went 10.82 (-0.1) yesterday. IMHO, Jackson will dominate the 100 & 200 this season.
IS there any meet that don't trot out flags to misuse? Some University Alumni meet and they do a lap with the stars and stripes now?
Next local masters meet, I'm packing a flag!
I did not see the meet of any videos of it but were the winners actually draping themselves in the flag? That seems a bit over-the-top but not nearly as bad as the yahoos that fly the flag on the back of their F-150s while driving down the highway. That is total disrespect of the flag.
Yes, Jackson is on absolute fire. Normally a 10.82 in April would be a death sentence, but for the JAM’s, who knows. Sometimes they can take a lot of time off between race blocks.
Steiner’s 200, not a problem at this time of year. Last year she was dead when it counted, and still came a close 4th (really 3rd because Seyni finished just ahead of her). IMO had she scheduled her season better, she would gave gotten 2nd. Jackson is currently unbeatable in the 200, IMO.
Hobbs is interesting—I don’t like her sprint style, but it gets the job done…BUT I don’t see a huge upside. The 100 and 200 are insanity now, like back when we had a bunch of 9.6/9.7 guys. IMO ETH, SAFP, and yes SCR have reached the kind of form necessary to always contend for medals. Jackson is right on the cusp, and so is Alfred. Hobbs is further behind, and Steiner is further back still.
It can be hard for someone as good and as successful as Hobbs to change how she runs the 100m, because “it’s worked for her”—but only to around the 10.8 level. It could easily now take 10.6 to medal, esp if ETH finds her legs, and if Jackson and Alfred make just a few tweaks. Also, I think SCR can be faster than some people think—some of her form looks great, and is very promising for a fast time.
Davis and Terry, we’ll see.
The JAM-USA 4x1 matchup this year is looking HUGE!! If ETH comes through. ETH, SAFP, Jackson, +1 vs Steiner, SCR, Hobbs +1. The relative strengths of the +1’s will be critical, IMO the US is looking good, but really needs to find a good turn. Steiner would be great, but she’s also great on 2nd. And she could be great on leadoff, too. We currently have no Tianna Madison equivalent, unfortunately. Jefferson has looked weak so far. Maybe SCR-Steiner-Hobbs for legs 2-4?
Yeah, I saw that and she lost the 100M running 11+. Perhaps it's early in the season and they are still shaking out the cobwebs. I guess we will see. I have always been impressed with Tamari's ability. Sadly she has suffered a few injuries at such a tender age, but I hope that's all behind her now. I firmly believe she's a prodigy and will be spectacular.

Perhaps not this year, but I do believe Tamari will be the dominant sprinter soon.

Too early to tell, but hella’ fun to speculate.
For some reason, I have never been that impressed with Hobbs. While I can see Davis running sub 10.8 consistently in the future, I don't see Hobbs doing this. Perhaps I will be proven wrong but right now I see Hobbs plateauing at 10.8. Jefferson has been a disappointment thus far, but perhaps it's early in the season for her.
I suspect that windy 10.57 has given SCR confidence in her abilities. If this occurs and she buckles down, she will be consistently running sub 10.7
If Jefferson finds her form, she can remain the lead for 4x100s. She did a spectacular job at Worlds. So the relay could be Jefferson to Abby to Tamari to Sha'Carri.
