I've been experimenting with workouts in my new Dragonflys but compared to Vaporflys even on the track they feel so much floppy and less bouncy. I can feel that their traction and lightness makes my kicks quicker but over the course of a longer race I feel like the energy savings of the Vaporfly make it quicker. Maybe I'm not running in the spikes right since Dragonflys are said to be springy, or maybe I'm just underdeveloped when it comes to running in flat shoes.
I know how much hate Nike gets on here but I'm giving the specific shoes to see if someone can help with anything.
So I recently ran 3 minutes on 1 minute walk recovery at 4:55 pace x5 reps in vaporflys and it felt like a strong good workout effort, but a week later in spikes I tried 5x800m with 1 minute rest and ran splits of 2:20-2:34-2:34-2:37-2:32. I completely botched the first rep, that could have done it, and the workout's punishing less rest might have done me in, but I still feel like I could do more to feel better running in the spikes.
So what is it, do more calf raises and strength (not sure what other specific muscles spikes use over supershoes), working on form, just doing more speed workouts in spikes? Or are vaporflys actually just better for some people on the track?
