I was equally impressed with Adeleke, who is 2 years younger than Wilson and had never run an outdoor 400 until last year. This was the first time an Irish woman has broken 50. She broke the Irish 200 record days earlier with 22.34.
Adeleke will be the primary challenger to Bol in European indoor 400s once she out of college.
Wilson is great but she has had the perfect situational setting of chasing Diggs during the indoor collegiate record and chasing Adeleke here. Adeleke did very well to regroup and was gaining slightly toward the finish.

She is such a graceful, well-balanced runner to watch. I didn't realize how young she is. I take it she hasn't raced Bol directly yet?
Sad that this mark isn't getting more attention on LetsRun right now. This is a truly remarkable time at this point in the year - AND coming on the heels of a stellar 400H run the prior day.

There’s always going to be someone to chase until Wilson is running 48 pt. This isn’t about situations, Wilson runs her own race which is staying within herself early on and a comparatively strong 150. Wilson is better than Diggs or Adeleke at this point, it’s not about situations.

I agree wilson is better but you cant deny that adeleke isnt a prodigy in the making. She just switched to the 400 and she already running 49.90. She was 9th last year at worlds in the 400 after a collegiate season doing the 100 and 200. This loss to wilson and running sub 50 probably ignited something in her i cant wait till nattys and where is arkansas girls texas is assembling nice.
When you think of all the great 400m sprinters the U.S. has produced, breaking the record is a really big deal. Brit has run faster than Sanya Richard-Ross, Athing Mu and Sydney McLaughlin. The Bowerman is going to be really tough this year with between Alfred, Tuohy, Wilson; you will need to break NCAA records to have a shot.

She should do the flat 400. Previous winner and Olympic champion SMU is pregnant, SML/Bol might not double, and she’s faster than Athing.
She might not podium on the hurdles with SML and Bol who are very doing the event since they both will definitely podium
She has the same chances in both events.
For hurdles only bronze is available and will be decided between Dalilah (if she is any good this year too) and Britton. If Muhammad can repeat her 2021 form (if cause her Oregon was slow) then Britton has a problem with taking into account her weak consistency. She needs sub-52 which she should clock.
For flat Salwa is coming and she is training now. She will not go under 49 this year but 49 should be on the table. They will divide gold and silver with Paulino thus only bronze again is available.
If Femke does double than flat medal will not be available for Britton. And then SML can double too.
The difference in SML and Femke doubles is that Bol runs all Dutch relays (women's and mixed) thus it is really A LOT of work. SML can leave the US relay as the country has bigger depth.

You are way off in your analysis of the flat 400.
Britton Wilson is very competitive with Nasser and Paulino right now.
Bol is a little better than Wilson, but Wilson has a decent shot at beating Bol in the flat 400 at worlds, because Bol will be overworked at worlds, probably running 4 events.
Sydney is unlikely to run the flat 400 at worlds this year.
So Wilson has a pretty good shot at the flat 400 gold, but she has zero shot at the 400h gold, unless Sydney and Bol get sick, injured, DQ'd, etc.
So if Wilson wants gold, she should choose the flat 400.
Britton Wilson is very competitive with Nasser and Paulino right now.
Naser and Paulino are class above Wilson, boy.
I understand this forum doesn't like Salwa (all those ugly American boys liking this ugly Tuohy) and doesn't care about Paulino
but the reality is Naser and Paulino don't care about Lets Run and are No. 1 and No. 2.
Wilson is very inconsistent, her 2nd all-time mark was set at altitude and is not worth much. She will never win with Bol at any distance / race, irrespectively of Femke overworked or not. Thus Wilson and 400 flat gold these are two different galaxies - light years in between...
