"There is so much evidence that the anti-doping system in Kenya does not work. Then you can expect World Athletics to have an answer to that. To be honest, I had expected that those Kenyans would also be suspended, following the Russians, after so many positive doping cases last years. Nothing happens. Other, larger interests probably play a role. But how can we talk about fair sport?"

"I am regularly tested in Belgium by two different organizations, while I run into Kenyans who are hardly ever checked." In fact, says Abdi: "In Kenya, top athletes are walking around who don't even know what whereabouts are. Let alone fill out those forms where they have to indicate where and when they are available for testing. I heard that there is a new system that will allow the Kenyans get tested better. Let's hope so." Because imagine if he had got stuck in fourth place in the last meters of the Olympic marathon in 2021, he says. That he was not ahead of number four by two seconds. "Then the bronze would initially have gone to Lawrence Cherono. One of the athletes who was later caught doping. Then I would have come empty-handed in Japan and then received that medal by post. That is your worst nightmare. You have to don't think about it?"
The issue is that Abdi is telling the true and thats how it is in Kenya. Most runners there only run for money and nothing else. Most of them have not gone to school so they would not be able to fill Adams system or anything complicated.
Most of the work is done by the agents in Kenya. But now we are seeing the AIU stepping in and doing better job. The doping issue has been around for many years and it comes down to morals. Why are we not seeing Doping problems in Japan?3
53 runners broke 2:10 in Marathon In Japan
100 Runners broke 2:10 in Kenya
The issue is that we know in Japan they are all clean but in Kenya we don't know who is clean and who is not.
It is very bad situation for the clean athletes because if you are professional athlete depending on 2 races a year to make money and sponsorship then you could miss out your income because someone else is beating you but they are doping and you are not.
Everyone should be tested a lot and in fact to prevent any issues everyone who competes in big races should be tested each month well in advance before the race. As someone said if nothing is being done about this issue then IAAF is not serious about their sport. Clean sport is very important for the people that chose to do it the right way.

Bashir Abdi shame on you. You go train in Kenya to sharpen your marathon skills yet talk of them being dopers. Now I even wonder if you yourself are clean!!! Please stay away from training in Kenya!! You can't bite the hand that feeds you. I'm even tempted to think you're one of the Epo smugglers to Kenya!!!!

this is what robertsons were up against.
give the guy a break by now.
stop the scape goat.
8 year ban to a guy that finally gave up on fair play, which never existed, nor exists.

This is true, and before EPO came on the scene, Japan was wiping the floor with Kenyans in the marathon.
Before 1992 : 9 Japanese broke 2:10, 1 Kenyan broke 2:10 (barely - a 2:09)
"There is so much evidence that the anti-doping system in Kenya does not work.
Number of busts suggests the opposite.
I had expected that those Kenyans would also be suspended, following the Russians, after so many positive doping cases last years.
No organised state-sponsored system. You can't ban a country for catching dopers. You ban them for NOT catching dopers.
Other, larger interests probably play a role. But how can we talk about fair sport?"
Because Kenya carries so much weight in the world. More than superpowers like Russia, which got banned.

This is patently false. Kenya currently has the largest testing pool in the world. The AIU is available to provide stats if needed. I wonder how many are in Belgium's testing pool?

This, I agree with. Would've been terrible if Lawrence Cherono had won the bronze only to be busted later. But Cherono doping doesn't mean Kipchoge, Kipruto, or Chebet are. That's not how it works.
So kick rocks, Abdi. WA won't wipe out a whole country just to hand you wins on a platter. Kenyans will always be around to make sure anyone who wins a race truly deserves it. You should want to compete with and beat the best, not have the field cleared for you. And I guarantee you Paula Radcliffe, Mebrahtom Keflezighi, Yuki Kawauchi, Desiree Linden and Shalane Flanagan's Marathon Majors victories are exponentially more satisfactory because the fields included the best Kenyans. You too would be prouder if you beat the Kenyans. Kenyanless races would always have an asterisk.

Abdi trains in Ethiopia. He knows first-hand that doping isn't behind East Africa's depth. He just wants his competition removed so he can win majors, have his face on Belgian cereal boxes and make more money than Belgium stole from the Congo.

You're wrong. You ban a country for widespread doping that doesn't stop. Antidoping shows their doping continues. Kenya hasn't cleaned up its sport. Its athletes have made a mockery of the sport and continue to do so.

Kettle, this is pot: you’re black. Who is his best mate and training partner? Mo Farrah…Aden’s favorite son.
