It was drizzling during the race and the track was really wet. So technically, yes, he was at a disadvantage.
I think the point is you need rules for a sport to be legitimate. Whether they give him an advantage or disadvantage really isn't the point that people that think he shouldn't wear them are making.
I mean didn't the NCAA keep someone like Neguse out of the meeting because he ran the qualifying time in a meeting that didn't meet their rules.
I've worn Vaporfly's for a 10K before and actually don't think they are a disadvantage. 10K is a long time to be wearing spikes, even with the new spikes your legs can really get worn down by the end if you haven't done a ton of training in them
