Not if they’re smart.

No one talked about UCLA until Brosnan got there. Now they are in the conversation. If they chose UCLA that would be epic.

As much as I hate to admit it could be a good place for them to rebuild their careers under a coach that is very optimistic. Sad to see Marlee leave NC State but being on the ground floor of rebuilding something could be a nice concept for both.

Is college free for female distance runners at UCLA now?

It's funny that UCLA gets mentioned most when someone appears in the transfer portal....Why is that? Because Brosnan did poorly with top high school recruits and has a lot of scholarships unused.

Brosnan only got hired in August by UCLA, so by that time most of the top recruits had already decided to go elsewhere.

So obviously he focused on transfers. What else was he supposed to do? Wait another year for the next high school class? That would make no sense.

He's already gotten several quality transfers so I would say he's doing pretty good for a first year coach.

I doubt that Brosnan would take a chance on Starliper. He's desperate for women who can make a xc impact in fall 2023 and Starliper is too injury prone to be counted on.

I disagree part of what makes him great is self belief. He’s also not afraid to take risks.

All the SELF belief in the world won't help SOMEONE ELSE heal faster.

In any case, there will be a number of other distance girls in the transfer portal between now and June. Brosnan doesn't have to go after Starliper. He can wait and see who else becomes available.
