Unless conditions are perfect, I don't see him making a run for the record. Even then, I don't really see him making a run for it without pacers. Of course Eliud would like to add it to his collection, but I think his priority is winning all the majors, and in general when he lines up to race, the priority always seems to be winning first, and times second (except perhaps in Berlin when he really went for it with a 59:51 opening, but I think he was confident of the win against the limited competition around him).
He already has course records in Tokyo, Berlin, and London. Chicago and NYC are eminently more achievable, and probably less risky, records to get. Even in a career that has exhausted all superlatives, Eliud running 2:02 in Boston would be an unthinkable performance. I expect instead 'just' a dominant victory, fast for the course (maybe sub 2:07), but not knocking on G. Mutai's miracle run.
Eliud is now 38. He is no longer the best in the world. This is the reality. Maybe he can do 2:04 at Boston.
The above getting so many downvotes is because the majority of you morons cannot grasp how Father Time has never lost. So Eliud is facing an undefeated opponent. He cannot win.

Where was Father Time in Sept, 2022? He was nowhere to be seen. Why do you think 6 more months would matter now?

Why would 6 more months matter after that? How about 6 more? You cannot be serious.

Ok, you think these past 6 months are an inflection point for him. I’d say that’s an absurd opinion when in his last race he DESTROYED the world record. Let’s talk about time catching up to him after he has a mediocre run, not after the fastest marathon in history.

A few of us are able to see it before it happens. We are almost never embraced. You shall see it soon.
At very least long enough for this one run... No way he runs a phenomenal world record and then 6 months later after great training and good work he's suddenly unable to run for some reason.
