He's here in this great city to run the Shamrock Shuffle 5 miler and the local news interviewed him and he said he hopes to be back to run the marathon this fall. Would be his first since Worlds.
This thread was initially titled, "Rupp may run Chicago." We changed it to make it more descriptive.

I'm heading out there mid-week. I should have gone out earlier. I hope he does well and I hope this becomes a regular thing- run road races in the 5k-1/2 marathon range.
Chicago is not a great city. I was forced to go there last month, and there was a police car on every other block (in the loop) due to the out of control violent crime. And of course, some neighborhoods are complete warzones

Rupp ran in the 25s today…5:12 pace and I’m unsure what that means. I think he showed up as road racing PR, which I appreciate yet, again, not sure what his approach was for the race since, even for a well off-peak Rupp, 5:12 pace doesn’t really compute as it’s not even tempo…
And to address the completely non-sequitur comment about Chicago not being a great city you clearly have never lived here or been here an extended period and are trolling yet I’m curious where you live? I also just have to shake my head at the endless droves of people who pronounce places hellholes and then have nothing to say about how you make it good. This city has amazing art, food, people, architecture and we’ll stop there for now.
EPO please enlighten me further, about the utopia you live in and the faults of Chicago (and anywhere else)!
I live in an even worse city, but crime is far more isolated than Chicago.
For example, if you stay in a relatively narrow north-south corridor, it’s quite safe. However, if you go to the east, let alone the west, there’s far more crime
Englewood is a warzone. Almost 1% of its population is shot per year.
Yes, particular neighborhoods here have high murder rates. And there is suggestion that is spilling out of these neighborhoods more (not so much murder but violent or scary crime like carjackings). But EPO is saying their spot is safe and their city over all is worse. There is a lot to say of one’s mental approach. I do not feel generally unsafe in Chicago, and a few blocks west or south of me is not the safest. This feeling of safety may be through ignorance or hubris on my part.
Yeah, and I was on the moon last week. Aliens everywhere. Crime everywhere.
Chicago now sucks. And yes I lived there for about 18 years. Avoid!

Way to stay on topic, losers.
Primus or Dead Kennedys
Sepultura
Foo Fighters
The latter.
Really gotta watch out for that boat on boat crime when in Lake Michigan....
