Anyone dare to say she beats tuohy? Will tuohy duck her? PR’s are real close. I think she can.
Appleton ran great. Huge PR! No way Tuohy ducks her. Tuohy, Maatoug, Tyynismaa and more will be at ACC championships. Tyynismaa only ran 4:12 this week but her PR is 4:09.
Tuohy will avoid her and stick with the less competitive 5000 where there is no risk. She don’t want to race Margo. Not good for her brand when she loses.

Didn't she just face Appleton a few weeks ago in the DMR at ACCs?

Tuohy loves competition. She won't run the 5000 at ACC- nothing to prove there. Touhy will run and win the 1500 in 4:02 - 4:05.

ACC 1500 has a lot of talent if they all run. Hansen, Parks, Bush as well. In all likelihood Tuohy will run 1500 at ACC meet if the plan is 5000 for NCAA, or vice versa. If the real goal is US Championship will she run 5000 in Austin? Great time for Appleton but still 4 seconds off Tuohy's mark. So are all of those 3:32 1500 guys going to beat Jakob?
if Barnett stayed at UVA they would have won the DMR with Appleton at 4:08 and Seeland at 4:12. Vin is miles ahead of Brosnan as a coach. Too bad she was homesick.

I think it would have been very close, even with Seeland on 800 Willis was faster and Stanford had a real fast 400. As it was they had to run Seeland on 1200 at ACC nad their 800 runner there ran 2:08.
Credit where it’s due Tuohy, is a step above the rest of the NCAA currently, but Appleton has a lot of upside. Tuohy will win the 5k but I predict Appleton takes the 1500 this year at Ncaas. Both great competitors with exciting futures. Their talent coupled with their sustainable training methods makes me think both individuals could be a big part of the future of American distance running. Exciting stuff!

UVA would have had the faster 1600m and 1200m legs, Seeland has run 2:02, which is what Willis split.
They wouldn't have beaten a fresh Stanford team but they probably could have beaten the tired stanford team. Whittaker was very vulnerable on that 1600 leg after the hard 800 prelim.
Don’t sleep on Schein Becker of rider!! 4:10 opener, an 8 second pr. Never made a national meet, would’ve been at indoor nats but she ran 2:02 after the qualifying window closed. Look to see her turn heads this season

Those Stanford days are long gone for Vin. Coming back to coaching at his age at UVA seemed a bit odd.
Vin is a good coach yes, but Brosnan is the future and would be a better draw for HS and College athletes.
My comment was not a KT comment. It was a Margot comment. KT is NCAA record holder in the mile and clearly the dominant runner in the foreseeable future. Doesn’t her indoor mile convert to like 4:05 at least. Absurd she would duck or be afraid of Appleton. But Margot posed her intent and may very well create some more heat in the conference and national scene. Her growth curve is pretty good. She was no KT in high school. Good to see hungry chasers.
Adjusting to new workouts for Barnett will be a little change. Two completely different styles of coaches. I have respect for both lananna and Brosnan. As a local So cal coach of a division 5 school in Orange County it was fun to watch her race at small schools and to see her at UCLA Friday night. I wasn’t expecting to see her line up so it was a surprise. A brought some of my students to watch and give them a college sports feel. It was nice to tell them that a division 5 girl won the race and show them it’s possible for small schools to succeed.
