Former marathon world record holder and two-time Australian Olympian Derek Clayton is now 80 years old, but has been found to have the heart and typical fitness of a 25 to 30 year old. Mr Clayton broke the marathon world reco...
I'm 70. When I was 67 I had a stress test and the cardiologist told me I had the heart of a 35-40 year old. I had a heart attack 8 weeks later.
WTH?
Did you go back & sue the cardiologist?
Cardiologists with all the academics & training they have, and the arrogance that goes with it, are not in a position to be making mistakes like that.
It's simply inexcusable.
A heart attack by definition is caused when a coronary artery becomes blocked and deprives the heart of blood supply. The cardiologist was commenting on heart function, not arterial blockage. Your comment is analogous to blaming a plumber who tells you your sump pump is like new, but subsequently your basement floods because a pipe is blocked.
Because the only cause of death are heart conditions, right?
You are so envious of those who age better than you.
So he has a heart of a 25 year old but his other organs are those of an 80 year old. Care to explain how his heart tissue has not aged in over 50 years while his other organs have?
Armstrong, I get what you're saying and I agree with you. Always good to be healthy but this guy is not going to live to be 150 just because of some cardiovascular markers of health. I'm sure he has good blood pressure, stroke volume, resting heart rate, ejection fraction. Doesn't mean it's going to chug along another 60 years like that of a 25 year old.
