This thread was started before they went on sale and entitled, "Prefontaine Classic/Diamond League Final tickets—who and how?" Apparently, right now, they are only selling tickets for both sessions and those are almost sold out as they are only the best seats near the finish line and many of them go to VIPs. Check out what's available here. Most of the stadium hasn't gone on sell yet as explained here. It's pretty damn confusing so maybe call the Oregon ticket office: 541-346-4461.
Who’s going to the Diamond League final 16-17 Sep and how do you buy tickets for it? Is it through Oregon’s website or Ticketmaster? Anyone have insight into pricing? I’m hoping this isn’t a ticketing disaster like worlds when the pre-sale offered terrible back straight tickets and then later they released the real tickets at better prices along the front straight.
Literally just google it. I checked a few weeks ago and they weren’t yet available but that may have changed.

They had a special presale for long time fans, etc. 2 weeks ago. They sold a lot already but if you haven't heard, you might sh*t the bed when you see the prices when they go on sale tomorrow. But remember, this is the DL final, not just your average PRE meet, which is always special, but this one is on another level and you will need to pay to play!
I wonder why we are all so reluctant to pay "real money" for track? It is a weird disconnect because I don't think we are all cheap when it comes to concert tickets or Hamilton tickets or whatever.
I would pay $80 to watch certain bands/singers, ballet dancers, Broadway actors, etc. but $80 for a seat at a track meet seems insane. Or is it just me?

Is that seriously how much they are? I was planning on going but I won’t if they cost 300 bucks.
Of note: last year’s pre classic was nearly empty, even after they gave free tickets to kids (and a parent) who ran in the youth races before the pro meet. Probably 25% full tops.
I just bought two tickets, great seats, near the finish, 8 rows up. $470 for both days. $120 a ticket for each session. Does that seem excessive considering how empty the stadium was at last year’s Pre-Classic and USAs? Yes. I’m trying to support the sport and am hoping the stadium will get filled. I am at the point in my life where I have enough disposable income that I can splurge on track meets. I live within driving distance of Eugene so don’t have to pay for transportation just lodging. Went to Eugene for Pre, USAs and Worlds last year and don’t plan to miss any big meets at Hayward. Would be at all days of USAs this year but the dates were released so damn late I had already booked a different vacation.

Snagged a reasonably priced Airbnb close to the track when the dates were first announced.
Not all tickets cost $295, only the best one near the finish line. There will be less expensive options.
@CCB How did you buy two tickets already. They aren’t on sale until 11am pacific time.
Sorry, meant 9am pacific. Which means they aren’t on sale to the public yet. Are you able to buy earlier if you drive the the Hayward ticket office?
Got my tickets. Five of them in section 123 which is about 40m down from the finish. $150 each. The tickets sold out in five minutes. I logged in right at 11am. If I was ordering just two, I could have got 122. But 123 was the closest section with five available. I’m sure a lot of the purchases were robot ticket resellers which sucks. But happy that I got a good section. I THINK the initial sale was from the front straight only. Perhaps the back straight and the upper sections will go on sale soon.
Correction…there are still tickets available. Must have been an error when I refreshed. Still a few on the front straight.
BY THE WAY, tix for US outdoor champs also went on sale 30 minutes ago. Got good seats near finish for $62.50 each. It is frustrating to see hundreds of seats not available when you log in seconds after tix supposedly first went on sale.
Ticket resellers really change the market dynamics. Only a few Prefontaine tickets left in good sections. Everything else is upper ring and back straight. With that said, all the seats at Hayward are still good…everything has a nice view.

Either they're not releasing everything at once or there is a massive appetite for track & field. There is no way this massive stadium basically sold out in 30 minutes. It looks like there is no limit on the number of tickets one can purchase, which leaves this open to the ticket resellers.
