All of the other legit females who entered the competition are a big part of the problem.
If the trans athlete was the only one competing (over and over), the promoters, sponsors, etc. would have no choice to either put their foot down or close up shop. Either way works.
Can't wait until this country wakes up for real and starts to fight back against this bs.
The trans athlete is probably good at the sport too. Just compete with other trans athletes or compete-up, in this case against males.
AFIK, TG participation in women's sports has not happened in top level soccer, softball, basketball, tennis, or volleyball.
Skimo is a fringe event in a niche sport. I doubt the federation has any money to fight lawsuits regarding TG participation. IAAF had its women's 800 moment in 2016 but that is largely in the past with new rules for 400- mile events and the NCAA swimming controversy that happened last year is unlikely to happen again as the NCAA took up FINAs new rules.
Allowing a male who hasn't gone through extensive hormone regulation to compete against females is blatantly unfair. That said, I think popular sentiment will prevent a male from facing off against popular female athletes like Mikhala Shiffrin, Alex Morgan, Coco Gauff, Breanna Srewart et al. Even if courts forced the federations to allow males to compete against females, sponsors and the public would not support any male who tried to compete in a popular womans sport and the situation would resolve itself within months.
Sponsors don’t care about trans athletes competing. The public doesn’t care about trans athletes competing. A very vocal, small minority of bigoted Q-anon followers make a fuss about it, but this is a complete non-issue.
I don't think you know many real people. Maybe the average person randomly plucked off the street isn't tweeting about it everyday, but if you asked them for an opinion most would say transwomen should stay out of women's sports. The percentage will be highest among people who know anything at all about sports.

Who are these women? Skimo athletes?

The guy was talking about a hypothetical situation where a full blown man plays a popular female sport. For instance, say Lebron James wakes up tomorrow and says I'm playing in the WNBA because I identify as female. Obviously nobody cares about skimo. I don't know what it is and I don't know a single person who knows what it is. Even avid skiers don't know.
Eventually it will happen. Making $1m playing in the WNBA beats most jobs. Some average male NCAA player who does not get drafted will say they are female and score 60 points, 30 rebounds, and 20 blocked shots a game in the WNBA. And then naive people like you will keep saying, "nObOdY cArEs, StOp BeInG bIgOtS."

Yes they do. Every normie thinks it's ridiculous.
And to the boomers who haven't heard of skimo: it's a rapidly growing sport which has been added to the Olypmics.
Maybe it’s been added to the Olympics but probably less than .1% of the U. S. population could name a Skimo participant. I read that Italy added it to 2026 Olympics because it they have some good Skimo athletes.

If it makes me naive to not care about someone getting a triple-double in the WNBA, then I guess you got me there.
However, I will continue to call bigotry out when I see it. This is not about sports. When you call a transgender woman a “biological male,” you are denying that transgenderism even exists. If you think that, then you’re a bigot. Own it. Say it loud and proud. But don’t pu$$yfoot around it and say, “they can do what they want in their private lives, but they sure as hell better not mess with the sanctity of skimo!”
Just because Skimo is niche doesn't make it right, and doesn't matter. That's kind of the point. Transwomen are winning at all levels across popular sports and sports most people haven't even heard of.

WNBA's max salary is about $235k, which will only go up to $265k at the end of current CBA. To make $1M, one has to either play overseas during the off season, or have a generous sponsor. And no sponsor will touch a trans player. So good luch with finidng a foreign team willing to accept a trans player. Certainly not anywhere in Russia or Turkey.
