I'm coming off my first real injury (tibia stress reaction caught early). The athletic trainer assigned to my team (DIII), has put me on "return to run" protocol that seems stupid. I'm starting at 4 x 3:00 jog / 1:00 walk every other day and increase really slowly from here.
Honest question: do these 1:00 walks do anything for a guy who has been running 75 miles / week for several years before being hurt? I'm 100% pain free and have only been off for 5 weeks. I've been biking so I'm in decent aerobic shape. Am I missing something? My coach is deferring to the training room, but I can tell he thinks this plan is kind of stupid.
