Girlfriend thinks I talk about REI too much. Long story short: I am allowed water and fresh fruits/vegetables from elsewhere, all other purchases can only be at REI. I thought this would be easy, but now I’m in need of running shoes. I hadn’t realized they mostly sell trail shoes. So if you had to buy road shoes at REI, what would you get?

What happens if you need to get your car fixed? Do you have to buy the parts at Rei? You might be able to cheat and have them order things for you.

How much REI stuff can she afford working for Outward Bound in the summers?
If you like cotton socks and drawers, does that fit into the grocery exception?
Can you still get those 'Free Tibet' bumper stickers anywhere?
Of course, freeze-dried food can generate many more.....
However, I will get serious and answer this way: the have the Saucony Endorphin Shift 3. This will probably be my next. I actually tried them on there. They have Speed 3 too. They seem to have a pretty full spectrum of Hoka including Clifton, Mach, Carbon X. In fact, they have the Altra Vanish Carbon. You can stumble across some stuff a little out of the mainstream. Atreyu, for example. I tried some on. Won't be doing so again any time soon.

The hardest thing is going to be food unless you stocked up on cans or something . REI sells freeze dried and packaged food for camping, but at a super premium price. They don't really sell just ingredients. So for protein, there is that and beef jerkey

REI has a great selection of running shoes. My more immediate concerns would be about emergency medical care, car repairs or any of 1,000 specialty items needed to do house repairs. Does REI offer those?

Thanks for the shoe advice. I usually buy shoes online as REI isn’t the cheapest even on their outlet stuff. But I can splurge a little to win this bet.

Well he is going to be out of gas in like 300 miles. I wouldn't worry to much about the car. And if you have no deductible does it count as shopping?
