3 guys ran the mile this year (2 being average times on any team), 5 ran the 5k (and for their history and standards, nothing exceptional there), and not a single 3k ran all indoors. Also, just four guys ran the 800. One guy was elite with Cook, but other than that, there was hardly anything at all to see from them this indoor season.
Obviously things have changed with their new coaches and they've lost some pretty phenomenal guys, but what is going on? A singular sub 14 5k guy, one good mile and 800 by the same guy, and virtually nothing else. Not trying to throw any shade or hate on the program, I've always rooted for these guys and this program, I'm just wondering what that is all about. A rebuild? Are they just not going to race much indoors ever? At first I wondered if they'd only compete guys who had a shot of making nationals, but they had a few just random results that aren't terrible but aren't anything great for their standards.
And who in the world does Elliot Cook workout with? Pro guys? Or is he just a racer? Any insights on any of this would be ~much appreciated~.
