It was proven today and has been proven many times now, Nico does not have what it takes to win a National title in college. Got out kicked in outdoor Nationals, and now by Charles Hicks at Cross Nats. He may win major races...
Yeah a lot of those guys seemed to get crushed by the altitude today. But extremely impressive by Jacobs, will be difficult for anyone to get him tomorrow in the 3k I think.
Bosley and Nico obviously planned to push the pace and I doubt this surprised anyone. Bosley looked fantastic, put in at least 2 hard surges. On his last with maybe 1000m to go or so, he had a shot to drop the field but let up. Honestly though, Jacobs was the best and maybe unbeatable tonight. 13:37 at altitude is legit.
Yeah depends on how much this 5k at altitude took out of him, though I agree that Jacobs is by far the best distance runner in the NCAA on his best day. He would’ve won NCAA xc if he didn’t let those guys open up a gap in the first 5k
Something in his post race interview seemed to say he did some thing(s) specific to be ready for altitude. Altitude tent? He made the 13:37 at 5000 ft look pretty easy.
Bosley ran great but his post race interview on the strategy just seemed strange. Like banking too much on the psychology of other runners, 'messing with people's minds', hoping they would get anxious etc. Seems like overthinking it to me.

The commentators said he purposely came to ABQ the day before the race and even missed the press conference. It usually takes a couple days for altitude to affect you. I don't know all the science behind it, but it worked for me when I ran Bolder Boulder and got there the day before. The rest of the week's running was rough, but the race itself I didn't have any issues.

Yeah, but most surprised by the NAU guys for which this Indoor Champs was catered to yet they still got beat by a flat lander.
Is it time to move on from Nico Young being the "Future of American distance running"??
He’s still only 20 and the guys that beat him were all 22-24. Nico seems off this season but he ran 13:11 as a 19 year old, so I wouldn’t count him out.
Stanford didn't show up and then I'm not sure what Bosley was doing but Dylan Jacobs crushed him that last 400.
Very impressive.
Nico has been injured majority of the season. He ran Millrose off of like 1-2 weeks of running on the ground. Crazy to run 7:55 given those conditions. Then with that un-ideal lead up to NCAAs he places a respectable 4th. Anyone who says he'll never win a title is clearly a hater. He should be back to 100% soon for Outdoors, and once he is, he'll clap some cheeks.
