Kara has a personal best of 14:55. Kara finished 3rd in that race so likely was able to draft off other runners for some of the race. Kara would now have the super spikes but she would be racing Tuohy who could possibly just follow her pace and then outkick her. Kara’s best 3000m is 8:34.99. It would be a good matchup.
Why compare her to when she was in her prime? Compare her to the field when she was in college.

Kara was a professional possibly doping under Alberto Salazar. The NCAA now has a runner who may already be better than Kara was at her best. This is not hating on anyone. Just providing some perspective.
That is an interesting question. Superspikes would make Alberto faster but he would struggle to outkick these guys if he had to.
Salazar was also on PEDs so if you're discounting Kara discount him.

This is the problem. You can’t make that comparison any more. The shoes change the conversation. Faster doesn’t mean better any more.
I would have dominated the 1896 1500 as a sophomore in HS. Coming back in 1900 would have been rough. Would have had to front run it as I don't think I could run a 70 last 500. In 1904 I have no clue what I would run on a 1/3rd of mile 4 corner asymmetrical track.
