Kate Grace, Elle Purrier St. Pierre, and Brenda Martinez recently had their babies. Congrats to the new moms! Elle’s and Kate’s were born just a day apart 3/4 and 3/5. Brenda’s was born 2/28.
It depends on whether their motherhood status is mentioned every other breath on TV coverage.
She almost died in childbirth and made it back to the Olympics. That's pretty impressive.
I used to think it was corny to constantly mention an athlete being a mom until I got pregnant myself (currently 35.5 weeks with twins). Let's just say there's a lot to deal with physically and mentally that no one really teaches you until you're in the thick of it. It's definitely impressive that Allyson Felix has had the long athletic career before and after a life-threatening pregnancy.

Let's be honest here, it looks like a pretty good way to suck another year+ out of your contract at the sunset of your career. Martinez and Grace would have surely been dropped had they not become pregnant. They probably won't get dropped now for another year since the appearance would not be a good look. I'd say that getting pregnant buys them at least a 2 year contract extension. Enough time to have the baby, a little maternity leave and enough time to try and make a comeback to elite running. Seems like a pretty good gig! Don't hate; you know it's true!

Yeah, I'm sure they chose to alter their entire rest of their life to get one extra year of a contract.
Babies are not cheap, as you will soon find out X2. If they were planning on having kids anyway, why not time it to ensure they get paid while doing so? I'm not judging them, I'd do it too. Just keepin it real.

After that, do you not remember the LONG period of "LONG COVID" and no training prior to her shotgun wedding and subsequent pregnancy announcement?
