Hot take: Lamar Jackson is too dumb to be moved from the Ravens

2. Lamar is going to make a minimum of $32.4 million this next year so I guess he must be a moron.

3. Lamar is betting on himself which shows confidence and self-trust.

4. Lamar is likely more intelligent than you.

The problems with getting a deal done trace to two other QBs in that same division. One of them wrecked the market and everyone's expectations with an absurd, unearned mega deal. The other, who came into the league AFTER Lamar's MVP season, has been to the Super Bowl the same number of times as Lamar has won a playoff game (1 each), has been to the AFC title game more times than Lamar has won playoff games (2 vs 1) and has won 5 playoff games overall to Lamar's 1. People talk up Lamar's MVP or his amazing regular season record, but they still were one and done that year and always get wrecked in the postseason. Add it all up: Lamar is better than Watson so wants Watson money, but Watson money is absurd even for anybody and absolutely drug-induced insanity for Watson. Lamar isn't better than Burrow, so the Ravens aren't going to blow a Watson-sized wad on the second-best QB in their own division.

But if one or two more QBs get mega deals this offseason (talk is the Bengals might give Burrow one) then the market might look a little more sensible in a bit. It's just going to be upside down as long as teams look at the massive gulf between Watson's pay and Watson's performance.

I agree, he only had a 13 on the wonderlic. You need above 25 to be typically successful. The sole exception is Mahomes with 24

I agree. At age 26, he is a 2 time Pro Bowl QB. He has won NFL MVP only once. He cannot be successful.

I'd still call Watson's a little more absurd at 46 million per year (starting this year) given how long its been since he had a great year, but yeah, wow, Jones's new deal is definitely in the category of absurd. Amazing what win-starved teams will do for a QB that can get them to the divisional round once.

I wouldn't give Lamar anything remotely close to a top level QB salary based off what I've seen. Some dumb team will if the Ravens don't and it'll be an anchor around their franchise for the next 5-6 years.

More on how Lamar is an dummy and the Ravens are exacting some savagery:

1. They didn't exclusive franchise tag him. They could have ate the ~$6M or so by exclusive tagging him. It would have saved him from himself by not allowing him to test the free market.

2. He did them dirty this season and they returned the favor by leaving him out here naked. With the non-exclusive tag.

3. The non-exclusive tag makes him either get no deal done with another team OR he magically (unlikely) gets a big deal done and the Ravens make out with two 1st rd picks. They do have an opportunity to match the deal, but that is also unlikely, the damage is done, and they've exhausted their hand.

4. Shows how unattached they are to him. Clear signal that they have the least to lose in a relationship. (Always the best position in ANY relationship)

Why are you so invested in this? Lamar will never have to work again. He is smart to represent himself. He is clearly savvier than you. Why are you so jealous of someone who is way more successful than you will ever be?

The problem is that teams pay stupid money to guys who really don't deserve it. A guy like Kirk Cousins makes stupid money and he's basically a .500 QB. Deshaun Watson is even worse.

This Jackson thing, everyone wants the Ravens to hold the line against fully guaranteeing him. If that starts to become the norm, unlucky teams will be destroyed.

I wouldn't pay him more than $40 million per year, but if a stiff like Cousins can get $35 million and Dan-freaking-Jones can get $40, why wouldn't Lamar want more?

The Ravens are somewhat built around him. His playing style won't work at probably 95 percent of the other teams.

This will be even funnier when 37 yr old Aaron Rodgers comes down off his ayhuasca trip, decommits from the Packers and he and Lamar are both basically available at the same time.

Aaron will sign a short big bag deal with a team and Lamar will be left to slink back to the Ravens like an absolute dummy. (Making probably $20M less than old Aaron, mediocre Geno, etc in 2023)

I'm from WI and would love nothing more than to see Rodgers move on. It's time for a clean break. I'm just hoping the Pack gets a pick or two and can off-load some of his guaranteed money so they're not completely screwed this year.

The more I read about the Jets, the more I think it's a good situation for him. A very strong defense, plus some good young offensive talent. A winnable division, maybe.

I guess it would be even funnier if we found out that Aaron was 37 years old.
