Yet it feels hollow to me considering she lapped 2nd place (11:33)
Before any superfans get butthurt, that's not a knock on Ms. Engelhardt
Hollow in the sense it does her little good in terms of tactical experience
Better for her and the sport had she jumped in the boys rated race*
Racing against boys at smaller invitationals where she doesn't have competition from other girls would serve her extremely well if she continues to compete after high school
*20th fastest time of the day for boys 3200 was 9:51

Don't think girls can race boys? Never heard it happen? Might be up to each state? But when they have separate races or teams, I think u gotta compete with your gender?

I can remember a number of dual and league meets in CA where they combined boys and girls in the 3200 to shorten the meet time. The divisions were scored separately just like when varsity and jv are scored separately but run in the same race.
I don't know if these combined sex races can count for offical state records but I know of at least one school where the girl's school record was set with boys in the race.
What is this “gender” of which you speak? What if she identified as non-binary on the day of that race? (In the political climate of today, is that an invalid question?)
The above is a good example of posts that should be deleted just because they are obnoxious for no reason.
I’m sure those who are frothing at the mouth to break down sex barriers in sports and have male “women” entered in women’s events would love it if every forum and outlet followed this rule. Purely because posts against interest are “obnoxious” only, of course, no other reason. But people like that poster you responded to are going to continue to be sarcastic about certain untenable positions until that debate is finally settled. Comes with the territory when some people are advocating for absurdity.

70% of posts on this site are obnoxious for no reason. although the original suggestion for Sadie to run in boys races was just stupid, not obnoxious necessarily. Sadie runs with boys in practice every day. theres no need for her to do it in races too.
Combining races and one girl moving from the girls' race to the boys' race aren't quite the same thing. I don't think she can just choose which 3200 she wants to run in.

The top male HS runners often have no competition. German Fernandez was not challenged his entire senior year of track but somehow had the tactical chops to win the NCAA 1500m title as a freshman.
Her time goal for this weekend at New Balance is ~ sub-4:37 in the mile.
Her current training block is a build for the Arcadia Invitational on April 7-8, 2023.
Purpose of the subsequent training block is building for national meets this spring/summer, where she hopes to go sub-4:33 in the mile.
She mentioned there might be pace lights at New Balance Indoor? Wow! She wasn’t sure what they would be set at, if they have them.
Ellie Shea is entered in the mile, as well as the 5000m, although it is unknown whether she will run both. It would be neat to see Shea and Englehardt pushing each other in the mile.

At last year’s Arcadia Invite, Sadie set the World Record for 15-yr-olds, running 4:35.16 in the mile. She said her workouts in the current build indicate she may be a bit ahead of where she was at, this time last year.
Name an elite high school girl runner who competed in boys races? Especially in the last 20 years?
Although outside of the twenty year limit, before girls high school track, Mary Decker ran in a boys high school division road 10k and won as a twelve year old, at around 38 minutes. There was no girls division to run in, and any competitive boy was either running for their school at the time, or otherwise did not compete.
Who cares, she is going to either plateau or get hurt from being this fast this early. It never turns out well for runners at her age being that fast that early in their career.
