He's surprisingly based and reasonable about Ukraine. I knew that he was progressive since a feature here stated he worked for a progressive nonprofit, but he stated that "I find the lack of dissent a little surprising. The left-wing progressive space is generally anti-war, so we should be thinking about this".
Most leftists are sheep. They'll put a Ukrainian flag in their profile on Twitter and do what the DNC and MSM tell them to think.

I'm not going to say this as bluntly as I want to: but why on earth are conservatives rooting so hard for a country that is as evil as they get? Did you not see the RUSSIAN telegram channels posting the video today of them brutally executing an unarmed Ukrainian POW?

We just don't want to Take a conflict halfway around the world that has nothing to do with us and escalate it into a nuclear war and we don't trust the people who lied us into Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, and so on to spend tens of billions on yet another foreign involvement instead of focusing on problems right here in our continent. I don't need to watch Russian telegram feeds when there's gang violence crippling Chicago on a daily basis. Jordan's comments are on the money here and your demonization of your fellow Americans is proof that the media is telling you what to think.

Russian telegram (the Media) is telling me what to think when they regularly post graphic execution videos of their own men as well as ukrainians, you got that right! Real genius republican over here. What happens in Chicago affects you less than what happens to a country that produces 13% of the world's corn and 11% of the world's wheat. In 1962 we had a confrontation with Russia over the placement of nuclear weapons in Cuba. Everybody was scared to death. There was no hot war, but schoolchildren were practicing hiding under their desks. Fast forward 60 years. We are in a hot war with Russia that is ultimately over the placement of nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Our president believes concerns about escalation to the use of nuclear weapons are a triviality. The American public is misled into believing that the risk of nuclear war over this is negligible. Keep this escalation going and Putin will certainly use tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Then what? This is not a subject whose discussion should be limited to two Progressives chatting over lobster. This is not a subject that should be limited to registered users of LRC.

Ok first of all wheat is super abundant because it's a resilient crop that can be grown literally anywhere and call me a nativist but I really do care about what's going on in places like Chicago and East Palestine and the 100,000 yearly fentanyl deaths and it's kind of tone deaf to downplay those things

We have been able to strike anywhere on the planet with ICBMs for the better part of 50 years now. Icbms can be "stationed" in Ohio if you want and they can hit moscow. Aditionally, you think if Ukraine had nukes they wouldn't have used them when russia was nearly capturing Kyiv?

I thought it was a very interesting article and concept of having two people from the same party talk about some of the major political items of the moment. I'm surprised the article didn't mention how Mann is a Brown graduate.
I'd like to see follow-ups where they do this with Republican and third-party voters (two different articles).

Crime is up even in nice areas. Using Chicago as an example, the Loop (downtown) had 77 shootings (as of October 23rd, 2021) in 2021. It had 23 in 2017 and 25 in 2019. There's a reason why Citadel and other firms left - crime isn't just gang shootings in bad areas anymore.

The more money we spend, the more likely there is nuclear war. The money we are spending can instead pay for housing for the homeless in our own country, it can be used to pay 100% of American's unpaid medical bills, it can go towards the student debt crisis.

Yeah, all 12,000 MRAPs we have collecting dust in storage that are now going to ukraine would really help the homeless. Einstein over here. Also, I want to vomit every time someone says "could help house the homeless" they literally don't want to be housed. In 2021 the state of Utah spent 300 MILLION to combat they're small population of homeless it did less than nothing.
I care a lot more about brave warriors fighting a nation of savages than I do some junkies stealing bikes and turning down free rehab and housing programs.

True. Victoria Nuland is a crazed lunatic who should be nowhere near issues of national security. The fact the US Senate voted down an amendment to audit Ukraine funds is all you need to know. Our "aid" to them is the biggest money laundering operation in history. So yes, your government is lying to you. Again.
