The thread was initially entitled, "UVA No Longer Hosting XC Nationals?" We changed it to make it more descriptive.

In Lou of the double-header we just went ahead and played two games.

From what I gather it is commonly agreed that Wisconsin, Oklahoma State, Florida State and Indiana have the best courses and NCAA experience.
Is the Virginia course on par with any of these NCAA experiences in course layout, traffic control, parking, tent city, warm-up, available hotels, to name a few ? Perhaps someone with more experience can compare this one to other courses. I hope this is not crony nepotism as our sport and its student athletes deserve better if not the case.
Don't forget Kansas.
I disagree somewhat. It's only about 100k people and I don't think there are 3000+ hotel rooms (as a very conservative estimate, taking into account the football game, teams, and family/fans).
Also, I stayed at a hotel a block away from public housing. Nobody wants that
It's a great XC course: rolling hills with thick grass. I assume the site selection committee has considered the start area for the field size and determined the course meets the NCAA course guidelines. They will likely have people park on campus and ride a shuttle bus into the course, and they will likely encourage people to stay in hotels outside of Charlottesville and drive there the morning of the race. Otherwise, it should be a great location for the race.
While I would love to see a championship on the east coast, I would hate to see a watered down, problematic event just to get it to the east coast though. Reading this thread it appears it is possibly not on level with recent NCAA courses and awarded as a political favor to their coach.
