Bekele has come with a few steps of setting the marathon WR a couple of times.
Maybe no records in London, maybe no record attempt in Berlin, but truth be told he is the best ever, 2000-42.2km and likely beyond.
The 50 mi record has always been held by the fastest marathoner who benefits from getting it
