A stellar 1500m takes place in Madrid between Yared Nuguse, the 2nd fastest man in the mile indoors, and Mo Katir, the second fastest at 3000m. *MB: Start List Madrid Nuguse vs Fisher in 1500.
What are the odds that the 1.500 meter world record goes down? Nuguse was in sensational shape last race, and he has Sowinsky as a pacer and maybe Katir to push him.
Or Nuguse pushes Katir to the record. The guy just ran 7:24 (4 seconds faster than Nuguse), has the bronze medal from Worlds, plus a 3:28 outdoor PB. He's in awesome shape. Don't sleep on it
Katir vs Nuguse is a barnburner. Feels like Katir is more in base training mode while Nuguse is sharper for the mile right now, but I bet both can go really quick. Even though Jakob bettered the WR, it's still weak compared to outdoors. Think Nuguse runs just outside the WR
Maybe, but that last lap from Nuguse was very convincing, to say the least. I guess Katir must tear him apart between 1000 meter, when Sowinski steps off, and 1300 meter. If it comes down to the last lap, and I think it will, I will put my money on Nuguse. That said, if the world record really is to go down, someone must the pace those two and a half last laps.

The track isn’t very fast. So that is working against a super fast time.
He won bronze at Worlds and silver at Europeans, he must have been tested regularly during winter? And yes, he waa tested in Lievin, according to his own Instagram story.

The interesting question for me is who follows Sowinski. I can't ever remember seeing Katir lead or sit on a pacer in a 1500. He usually aims to sit on the race leader so don't be surprised to see him try and make Nuguse do the work
