Surely you are aware that there was no out of competition drug testing until 1989, which allowed the female world record setters 1988 and before to use the strongest drugs possible, no matter how long the drugs stayed in their system.

She certainly may have been misled about what she was given and may disbelieve the truth. If she is lying, it may be in the less severe sense of her stating a falsehood while she believes what she says.
