I have the vaporflys which have been great for road races, but debating if it's worth buying a pair of dragonflys to race indoor/outdoor track. On the one hand, I assume the dragonfly is better on the track because it's lighter, has spikes and is designed for the track. But on the other hand, world athletics banned the vaporfly on the track for pros, so was it actually faster?

Dragonfly faster but if you're doubling up events or really worried about recovering quickly, I've heard Vaporflys will save your legs more.
as you've already pointed out, I would go for the only one of the two that is legal to use on the track

Personally, I have decided to avoid Vaporflys on the track and donate my pair to a 2nd hand clothing store. I have not raced on the track with them, only on the roads, and only used them for speedwork on the track. Not enough support and no stability for faster speedwork. After todays workout, my feet scream in pain…especially the left…after speed in them. Maybe if you have perfect, elite running form…
I run on my college’s indoor track in Vaporflies up to 4:40 pace before I prefer spikes. However, it’s an oversized > 300m one. On the outdoor track it’s great though
I don’t feel unstable going at pretty fast paces though.
I ran with them on an oversized indoor track. I was going fast on the straights and the turns felt fine, but my left foot also felt weird after.
