99% chance that a D2 school is bad. 75% chance that a D1 school is good.

non-NYers don’t really understand that, with the exception of a few standout d1s (that probably are outside this individual’s range), most schools in NY compete amongst themselves despite division level and their status as d1/d2/d3 is almost irrelevant. None of these schools can claim to be household names, but this individual clearly isn’t looking to make Texas A&M or GVSU. So to be honest, I don’t value someone’s assessment of NY schools unless they have actual experience competing or coaching in NY.
like people are saying, though, better to choose a school based on more important factors other than division—especially in NY.
Don’t let anyone here tell you running for any d2 or d3 program is “less than.”
my only advice.. I probably would have reached my highest potential under a d2 or d3 program to be honest. D3 runners are as fast as fvck
Aside from the 4 SUNY 'Centers' (Buffalo, Stony Brook, Albany and Binghamton) which are DI, all the others are DIII. As someone else mentioned, some much better athletically than others and do compete with each other. The only issue I see, is they are upstate (sans Old Westbury & Farmingdale), so it can be quite cold from late October to April. There definitely is a SUNY that fits your academic and athletic profile. And if you are a NYS resident, they offer a great value. Best of luck.
