Katelyn Tuohy is the fastest Miler in the WORLD that is born past 2000

I’m assuming this is technically correct, but that’s only because the mile is an imperial distance that is basically only run in the U.S. anymore. There will be 0 miles raced on the DL circuit in 2023.

Freweyni Hailu was born in 2001 and has run 3:56.28 for 1500, equivalent to about 4:15.low.

That is indoor only which no doubt many don't run. Outdoors she would be in the 90s with that time, and if you look at 1500s she would be somewhere north of 100. It is a great pr for her and NAA record, but let's keep things in perpective.

Tuohy is a Miler prodigy being trained to become a 5000m runner. Will it work to our nation's favor in the 5000m against Ethiopians? We'll see in the upcoming years.

Tuohy is an outlier in the Mile in US distance. I believe she will transition to the Mile after college. So much potential as a middle distance runner!

Really good but don’t forget the indoor mile isn’t that big of a deal. Outdoor mile or 1500m is more representative. But I do agree she is a bit like Cooper teare, a very good 5000m runner who’s even better and more promising at 1500m.

i feel like i started the miler katelyn tuohy agenda but now that some people actually want katelyn to become a miler, im already off it

see this is the case, katelyn is really fast, she could be america's top miler in 3 years time but katelyn could also be america's top distance runner for the same reason that she can run a 4:23 mile at 20 and she runs a 15:14, only running god knows what shes really capable in the 5000m on fresh legs vs elite competition

the top pros now are running in shorter distances to help with their speed, and they are 4-7 years older than katelyn, its just that katelyn is doing it early, which will bode well for her future as a 5000m runner

1500m is more relevant internationally

So many Tuohy trolls. This is like saying somebody is the best 600 meter runner born after 2000 even though 100 people could run the event faster but they run the 400 and 800.

It should be right? look at the top american 5000m runners right now, they can run pretty fast 1500m, it has become a requirement, to be competitive at the pro ranks and the world

the faster you are at 1500m, the better you are at 5000m

katelyn ran 4:06 last year, and 6 months later shes at 4:04ish (converted) in her own words shes one step in the right direction
