The NCAA leader at 600 isn’t Will Sumner, but Arkansas’s Christopher Bailey at 1:15.18, in a race he won by over 2 seconds. This makes him #10 all time indoors in the world, and of the 9 guys ahead of him the slowest 800 PR is 1:45.83 (Jonathan Jones) and the other 8 have run 1:44.92 or faster.
Remarkably, this appears to be the first time he’s raced over 400 on the track in college (he ran some obligatory cross country for Mississippi Valley a few years ago, with a 32:02 8k). Having recently transferred from Tennessee to a new team, perhaps there’s a plan to try him in the 800 this season?
For what it’s worth, his PRs are very comparable to Devin Dixon’s:
Dixon - 21.62 / 45.22 / 1:15.16i - 1:44.76
Bailey - 21.58 / 45.25 / 1:15.18i - ?
Anyone know anything about this guy?
