She didn't run an indoor 400 last season (never has), but she ran 35.80 for 300 which is equivalent to 51-mid. Pretty awesome opener after her endless season last year. What a hoss!
I’m pretty sure that was her first 400 since high school. She’ll get better and has a high ceiling. JMO, but she’ll be a better 200/400 runner than a 100/200 runner - à la Allyson Felix

Yes, there have been good 100 sprinters that are white. Steiner is one of them. There’s no reason to bring ethnicity into the discussion.
I just listened to the brief post race interview with Steiner. She confirmed that was her first open 400 since her freshman year of high school. She also said her focus is the 300 at Millrose. I predict she’ll beat Chandra Cheeseborough‘s 300 AR of 35.46. The world record of 34.1, set by Marita Koch, is pretty much out of reach. That record was set during the state-sponsored doping era that Koch competed in. All of her marks are tainted.
