I know World Athletics banned shoes with a certain heel height from the track, but to my knowledge, the NCAA doesn't have any rules about that. I'm racing on the track for the first time in years this weekend (an indoor mile, flat track) and debating if I should use my old track spikes which are like 12 years old or wear my road shoes (Saucony Endorphin Speed 2). I've used the Endorphins for shorter fast reps on the outdoor track with no problem, but I haven't tried racing with them for a short race or used them on an indoor track.
I guess I'd like the performance boost from the road super shoes, whatever that is worth for a track mile, but not sure if the spikes would just be better for this situation. Thoughts? Which do you think would be faster?
