I don't think any woman will do 10k/marathon double with that schedule.
Also, no 400/400H double for SML or Bol.
I hope he tries. How incredible would that be?? Great for him, great for our sport. Go Jakob, go!
Jakob will not triple as long as the 10000 might impact his chances in 1500 or 5000, so its not happening. Though he will double and is the favorite in both events.
Hope Jake Wightman doubles the 800/1500. Also perhaps Max Burgin might if he can get a full season in this year and run a couple of 1500m races. Ethan Hussey could well be able to qualify for both too.
BTW, a 15 year old Brit ran 3:52 1500m indoors the other day, breaking the British U17 record.
I’m liking Mo Katir’s chances of becoming a double medalist in Paris
The repecharge is interesting. Wonder if the runners think its fair. Since some might flake the first round and worry about qualifying in the repecharge against tired athletes.
I think that schedule works for the 400M / 400H double if those ladies want to give it a try. Sydney doesn't have to put much effort in each round before the finals to advance, I think she could still have enough in the tank to win both events even with racing 6 days in a row. WRs would likely be off the table but I'd rather try to win 2 Gold Medals in a OG than just 1 if I were at her level.
Hopefully the repechage qualifying will be pretty thin, like only 1-2 athletes per heat make it through to the Semis. Otherwise that scenario you mention could come into play if too many advance that way.
I wonder if repechage will deter some from doubling
What some people don’t realize is that Jakob’s hold on being the dominant runner is extremely tenuous. This is a fluid situation and so Jakob would be a fool to triple. He is lucky if he gets one gold medal in Paris. Recency bias has led some of the simpletons to presume continued dominance for Jakob. This is highly unlikely and he has not even shown the dominance of Hicham so the notion of tripling is absurd.
Burgundy couldn’t get through 3 rounds in the 800 let alone double in the 1500
Yeah, he’ll be able to recover well due to his “training”
Heck no.
It'd be interesting tho. Given that the 10,000m would be first, should all but acknowledge his destined failure at either 5000m or 1500m. Too many rounds for him. He'd have to cover about 24km by the time of his final race. And from what we saw in the last 1500 final in the Olympics and WC, He'll definitely need to have Sub-3:30 Speed, which will be tampered by the 2 5000m rounds and 10,000m
Isn't 5000 after the 1500? So it would "just" be a 10000 on his legs not 10000 plus two 5000m rounds
