I can't imagine the emotional toll this has taken on Emma the past couple of years. RIP Annie Coburn :-(...

Diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in December 2019. Amazing that she could hold on for over three years. Tough woman. RIP.
No doubt, Emma is one of the best female US Distance runners in history. She's also a fan favorite, respectful, welcoming, kind to all.
She has always carried herself with humility and dignity, which is a testament to the parents who raised her. The sport is better for having Emma in it. I am sorry for her loss.
Damn cancer sucks!

I always thought as her Moms illness unfolded that the heart that carried Emma to a WC gold came from somewhere.

Colorectal mets (especially if liver-only, or single mets to the lung) are actually relatively manageable despite being stage IV disease.
Increasingly prevalent in younger (<50) people. For this reason, new screening guidelines are for colonoscopy starting at 45. Eat more vegetables! Eat more dietary fiber! Get your colonoscopy!
Here is the wonderful and touching post from Emma announcing her mother's death. Dying at such a young age sucks, but she died surrounded by those that loved her.
PS. Moving forward, you need to be a registered user to post on this thread. In all threads, please keep the posts on topic. This thread is about the death of the mother of one of America's greatest runners. It's nost a post about the validity of invalidty of religion, covid vaccines, etc.
Great post, rojo. Let’s put some respect on her name, people. We’d want to know how Galen Rupp’s dad or Molly Seidel’s sister are doing, too.

Normally I don’t get too sentimental about the deaths of people I don’t know. But I follow Emma on instagram and she’s posted a lot with her mother over the last few months. Her mother was incredibly brave during her diagnosis, she showed life and energy in the face of a tough situation. I wish nothing but the best for the Coburn family.
